(((Yay!! Aidem's been engaged in conversation! Or rather... he engaged someone else in conversation... No matter! Thank you for making him talk, Nifredil! )))

Aidem shrugged off the man's, Rovan's, he thought, reply. He knew, of course, that the people of Rohan shared uncommonly close bonds with their animals, but he was bored. Bored beyond belief, even with the fog. and so, he was reduced to his old tactics of annoying people he didn't even know. But it was no fun at all if the people didn't say anything, except for a word, or two, back. Sighing, Aidem slumped in his saddle and stared idly as the remnants of the fog twitsed and contorted themselves into phantom shapes. Black cloaks, dissappearing company members, sudden winds and mists... real frightening, Aidem thought, choking back a yawn. Give me city soldiers and rooftops any day. Being in prison is more exciting than this. He stretched and restlessly fiddled with the ties on his cloak, glancing around at the rest of the company. Everyone seemed on edge. There was a sort of static electricity in the air that crackled deafeningly in the silence conjured by the lack of comradery. If this isn't the most ill-mixed group I've ever had the displeasure of traveling with..... But then again, I never did find many people's company pleasurable so this isn't at all out of the odinary for me. I wonder if any of us will make us through this journey without getting to each other....

((Righto here's my post - haven't got much to say yet {took a while to say it though} but once we're a little further afield I'll see what I can do! ))

Raen's gaze flitted over to Sila once more as he observed her reaction. She seemed startled and wary and rightly so, yet Raen knew that she was not even aware of what Levi could do if he were to lose his grip completely. He sighed and fiddled with his stallion's reins as a silence developed between them.

"I will not ask, then," Sila finally said, and looked Raen in the eyes again.

Raen looked up and caught her gaze. He could see the trust she had placed in him in her eyes and it surprised him. He knew that they had experienced an adventure concerning Prince Imrahil before this so she knew him as well enough as he liked. It was enough for her to know that he was by no means honourable or trustworthy. In a tight situation, the only back he watched was his own - rogue's instinct, yet she seemed to trust him nonetheless. He smiled, realising that he did not mind her trusting him as they had indeed become good friends.

"Thank you, my friend."

Raen nodded his head in reply and watched her ride ahead. Turning his gaze to their surroundings, he found only flat plains before them, not another soul in sight. He sighed deeply, wondering how he could keep up his immaculate behaviour without causing some kind of excitement to amuse himself.

His gaze fell upon the figure of Ari as she rode with the rest of the large group. He smiled warmly at the sight of her and urged his horse forward until it drew up beside her. He had not the opportunity to speak with her together properly for a long time, only talking of plans and what was to be done about their journey and it annoyed him. He longed for them to be as carefree as once before, although Ari had become much more uptight and anxious since he had been with her before. Reaching across, he squeezed her hand with a one of his own warm palms as if to reassure her that everything would be alright.

~~~~~~~~~~~
"You are making the company sound like a beverage."
Levi laughed, his deep laughter rolling off his throat, "In many ways it is indeed similar to a beverage, although I believe I prefer the latter. You do not have to attempt making conversation with a beverage and become acquainted with it!"
"Bandits. I was on my way from Rohan to Ithilien but ended up near Sarn Gebir instead. Ended up facing off a band of ruffians." She laughed ruefully, "They did quite a number on me."
Levi noticed her touching her wounds gingerly and watched to ensure that she didn't open them as they were not healed enough to withstand much deterioration. He whistled when he heard of the bandits and gave his head a slight shake, "I can see that. Immoral bunch of debauched men are those that attack women," he gave her a sidelong look before adding, "I am not implying that you are weak, but merely that most women are not competent to wield many weapons or defend themselves from dangers such as those that lie in wait on the roads."
She gave a small smile as she said, "Thank you for the shirt by the way. Its a larger than my usual garb, but it is quite more comfortable."
Levi smiled, "Of course, why it was no trouble." He didn't mention the fact that it was a citizen in Minas Tirith whom she should have thanked who would have awakened to find himself four shirts fewer that morning. He felt the cold wind blowing and scanned around the landscape. Just then he heard a voice coming from his left hand side,
"It's too hard to figure it out, Tasar,"
Levi's black eyes swerved to see who was talking and found Sila riding alongside him. He watched her talking to her mare with amusement, and his eyes began to twinkle humorously. "Do you talk to your horse often?" he asked her lightly, the humour tinkling in his tone.
"Only when I don't want anyone to actually answer me." she said with a smile. "Tasar is a quiet listener."
He grinned and replied, "Ah but sometimes it helps if the listener can answer back, after all they may give you some invaluable advice, whereas...," he paused trying to think of what she had called her horse, "...Tasar here cannot understand a word of what you are saying." He kept his horse in step with her, "However I can and I make a great listener." He winked at her. His curiosity got the better of him and he inquired, "What was it that you were speaking of? Perhaps I can make better sense of it then your horse and may be able to figure out your silent questions."
Suddenly he noticed the thick black clouds had begun to descend on them and the wind had picked up, becoming sharp and harsh. A thick mist began setting in rapidly and his fellow companions were slowly swallowed up by the mist. Soon only Sila's outline was visible and even she was fading away. He guided his stallion as best he could with his legs although he had no idea what he was heading towards.
It was then that he heard the squeal of a horse and felt the impact of it bolting as it brushed past him. He quickly leant down and searched in the mist for Sila's mare before grabbing the reins so she wouldn't bolt also. Listening to the cry he realised that it was one of the companions from Evethire's group. He wondered if anyone else had noticed but it was then that he heard Evethire's call to continue on. He raised an eyebrow in slight surprise but did not complain. He had no intention of losing himself in the mist and had made up his mind to stay right where he was. He could tell that everyone else felt the same way. However he soon heard some hoof beats flashing past him at a gallop in pursuit and he recognised the cape to be Aireon's. It appeared that Evethire's company felt differently. “No heroes among us villains anyway," he muttered in reference to his fellow members of Raen's company.
The fog began to thin and the company heard the sound of two horses returning. Soon Aireon and Altariel appeared at the rear of the company, safe once more. Levi released Sila's reins and turned to see if they had lost anyone else. None were missing although several others had moved around due to the fog. The awkward silence resumed and Levi realised that Evethire's company were no ones that enjoyed conversing with strangers. He glanced down at his hands and caught sight of the tattoos scrawled across his arms. It reminded him of what Raen had spoken of back in Minas Tirith and he smiled, but his thoughts were dragged to the stories behind his tattoos which he had lived through.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Raen had stayed close with Ari to ensure that she did not get lost in the mist before moving apart when it began to thin and finally clear. He moved away from the others again and gave his stallion a loose rein, knowing that he was not within a close range of the other horses. His black eyes ran through the company and he shook his head at the sheer size of it. They were an extremely large company and it would certainly be interesting if the situation arose in which they had to travel in secret.

His stallion's long strides soon brought him near to the front t of the company although Raen had not noticed. He yawned widely and looked around once more. He had grown incredibly bored and was at loss for something to do as he had to behave. Pulling up his loose shirt, he pushed the bandage gently off his wound and began to prod it to see how well if was healing. Much to his dismay it had not improved whatsoever, but that was his own fault as he never permitted anyone to heal his wounds. He cursed silently as he sent a wave of pain through his abdomen and was startled when another hand suddenly grabbed his own, preventing him from touching it. He looked up to meet the eyes of Levi and made a face.

"Do you want to have a gaping hole there?!" Levi hissed, before yanking at Raen's bandage and covering the wound again. He glared at Raen and ignored the face Raen made as he had obviously hurt him. "You deserve it. Next it will become infected."

Raen bit his lip to prevent any cries of pain escaping his lips as Levi pulled roughly at the bandage. "I was merely seeing how much longer it would take to heal, I grow impatient." A thought occurred to him, "Why do you care?"

Levi shrugged, "I don't really, only I've just met you, being my brother I don't think I should kill you, well not now at least." He rolled his eyes, "It won't heal in the space of a few hours! It will take an eternity the way you look after it.

Raen glared and slowed his stallion until he had fallen back a bit. Looking down at his saddlebags, he pulled out his pipe and lit it. Content for the time being to ride along silently now that he had his pipe with him. However the urge to cause a little disturbance was hard to resist. Giving his horses sides a sharp nudge, his stallion shot forward like lightning and collided straight into the back of Aidem's horse who was not in the least bit impressed.

"Why I am terribly sorry Aidem!" Raen mocked humorously, "My horse took fright there, I do apologise." At the same time his horse lashed out at another across from him. He grinned it would not be long until all the horses were in a foul humour.

"Of course I was!" He said grinning, trying the change the tone of their gloomy journey thus far. "Oh and look, I have even cleared the fog for us!"

"Indeed" Evethire smiled at his cousins mirthful tones.
He started to be on edge as he felt guilty about losing a friend and stupid for not knowing more about the mystirious riddle and he also felt the man's, Raen's company seemed to have a grudge on his beliefs. Well after all they can always leave.I have never talked to such nobles.he though to himself as he pictures their grave faces. It seemed to show as he caught his cousins eye and felt stupid. He must pull himself together and lead the number who will follow without a grudge. He grinned in answer to his cousin. "Eorlas, dear fellow you wouldn't be able to always suit the weather to our liking, would you?"
A movement of smaller faster steps made him turn to se Altariel "Well dont take this as kindness but I was wondering how long it will take to get to the Entwash?"
"Well as long as the weather stays calm,"he nodded at Eorlas, "and we can see, and no one gets lost hopefully soon."
Altariel was gave looked away and rode to the back, as far away from Evethire she considered. She would catch up with Aireon later for she didn't want to bombard her.
Evethire kept the smile. Blethian seemed to sense the change in mood and started picking up the pace. "Come cousin."he shouted back to Eorlas and nodded at Aireon. "We shall arrive quicker if we move quicker."
He didn't care right now about the people who hated him. It was his journey and he couldn't leave.
When Eorlas and Aireon were once more beside him he remarked "Any news on the riddle? If not Im sure someone else might have an idea in this vast company. Though we might not try everyone." he winked at them to say, some can't be trusted.
The sun cast long shadows of proceeding horses on the ground. He decided to talk to Raen about direction once they had stopped someplace. For the moment it was about reaching the Entwash where the water would be much desired.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HopelessAltariel thought as she watched Evethire joking around with his cousin, who she of course respected highly but he had changed to much.
Her feet erged Serithion on into a prompt walk to the front and asked about the time. She was not surprised that Evethire remarked upon her bolting adventure as a joke.
Dropping some speed she proceeded to the back of the company hoping to be away from her so-called friend.
As she went she passed one of the twins talking with what seemed to be a friend. She nooded and grinned at them both.
On reaching the back she saw Alagithildin and Randir.
"Greetings once again, do not feel like you have to stay at the back. Evethire would be gratious of your company as it is always incouraging." and then realizing she had spoken caringly of Evethire she shut her mouth and concentrated on holding her horse from bolting again.
"Randir, if you dont mind me asking do you fix weapons as a job or just for the specialist of people?"she smiled at Alagithildin. "Well it was only I have a elvish knive that is slghtly broken. I think it broke on an orc's armour." She felt so happy to be in their company once again.
A few people looked behind at her. She blushed as they oviously thought her as a poor excuse for company. She saw the Rohan man riding near Aidem, as the man was introduced. She hoped she could talk to them later as the looked well travelled and she was sure such nobles would have great tales to tell. Though they didn't seem to like their company very much, maybe they thought ill of Evethire.Rightly so.
"I always meant to ask you, do you know much of these lands of where we hope to go?"she asked Alagithildin breaking what silence lingered.
The solemn group started at a better pace soon after she had spoken to Evthire.Serithion thought this a great idea and considered to race the other horses. Altariel grew very annoyed and kept a determined pout on her face. She didn't want to fall off or be ran away with again.
With all the shadows moving faster she noticed that some others were starting to go faster. The mood seemed to cheer up.
It was when she heard a faint din of rushing water that her heart jumped. They had passed Anorien safely thanks to Aireon and everyone except Evethireshe thought boldly and then decided ahe was just being mean, after all she had stayed in his vacant room on his kindness last night.
Her throat was becoming dry at the sound of it.
"Do you want to come to the front?"she asked them hoping they would.
I cant think of anything to do except get near our destination-Entwash :blush: :blush: :blush: ~sorry a little mad....
Gritting his teeth in frustration Aidem tried to get his horse, who he had come to call Pied Piper, in check. But he just continued to snort and prance to the side, once stopping in his tracks to throw Aidem forward agaisnt his neck and only become more irritated.
'Raen, that wasn't an accident the first time and I'll be damned if it was the second time!' he growled before he could catch himself. Wonderful, nobles don't talk like that. Ah well, better just shut my mouth than to try and make amends and only end up making things worse.
((Aaargh, I have a lousy computer, so I'm hoping to get in a post while this good luck lasts, probably won't be much, though...Also, Arwen, hope you don't mind me adding in some conversation.))
Ari looked over a the soft fall of hoofbeats approached. She turned to see Raen riding up next to her, a grin on his face as usual. He reached over and squeezed her hand, as if to reassure her.
"Everything alright?" He cheerily asked, though the weather was bleak and the skies were grey. He seemed to find happiness wherever he went.
"Well, yes," she answered,"but I still think you should have listened to Levi and gotten that hole in your stomach looked at." Then, seeing the look on his face, she added: "And don't tell me it's not bothering you."
"Only a litte," Raen admitted,"though I'm sure it should clear up in an hour or so." She only smiled and shook her head.
"Raen, that wasn't an accident the first time and I'll be damned if it was the second time!"
"I'd have to agree with that!" Ari laughed as she pulled her horse over to them. "Raen, you might want to be more 'careful' with all of these accidents you keep having."
((Ok, I'll try to think of something a bit more interesting to say/post...))
Rovan cast a side-way glance at Aidem who was struggling with his horse. The animal refused to obey his master. Rovan shook his head. The training of the stallion left much to wish. He turned his gaze again towards the fading mist. When the horse tried to throw Aidem off, Rovan lost his patience. He just couldn't stand untrained horses.
"Raen, that wasn't an accident the first time and I'll be damned if it was the second time!"
Rovan raised his eyebrow surprised to hear an outburst like this from a noble. Maybe he wasn't that arrogant as he had seemed... But then, he could just be a noble and a rude noble at the same time. But it didn't really matter. What nerved him the most was that horse of his. That beast definitely didn't know it's place. Rovan urged his own Anto forward, caught the prancing stallion's reigns just at his mouth and pulled his head down, covering the animal's wide nostrils with his glove. The horse jerked, but Rovan held him firmly.
"Easy, easy," Rovan sad in a quiet voice, ordering the horse to stop arguing. The stallion snorted, but in the end obeyed, still looking frustrated. Rovan looked at Aidem who didn't seem pleased wint this intrusion. Which noble would be to see his prescious very expensive horse to be touched by a simple and low Rider of Rohan?
"Sorry to have ofended you," Rovan deliberately skipped the sir part that should have been added, "can't stand disobedient horses."
'Raen, that wasn't an accident the first time and I'll be damned if it was the second time!
Evethire turned to see one of the nobles shouting at Raen, though now that he looked it seemed he had reason. He horse was prancing rather disobediently. A very small grin edged cursingly over his face but then it halted as Evethire's eyes looked at another. Rovan was going over to help. He was very impressed at his skill and indeed the stallion ceases his malarkey of prancing about.
He felt great respect towards this nameless man of Rohan.
Inside he had to admit he couldn't expect a noble to act like that but he just turned back and stared far off to the direction of destination.
He just notices three smart riders approaching up near his elbow. He turned to be greeted by a fierce frown and two friendly faces he like very much.
"Hello dear friends, I do hope you were not troubled by the foggy ways of Norsehui, it is said to be an ancient devil." he halted his tongue after stating to the watching Alagithildin and Randir and the surprisingly smiling Altariel.
"Well I wasn't"she replied joking.
"Yes, we know."he aslo joked.
"Are we approaching our destination leader of this very strange company."
"Yes, we are, can't you hear the troubled waters hum?"
"Well, I can but..."she started in excitment.
A while passed unheard of as nothing happened except the contining plodding of the horses which was alternated as each horse had a character of its own coinciding with the other horses. No one said very much until Evethire, leading, followed by Eorlas and Aireon and the rest, felt cooling water droplets on his face. The roar of its shadowy depths were much desired for as the want for fresh water ebbed. The sun was sinking slowly and causing everything around to darken into a calm air. Not a hair faltered from the vacant breeze.
"Listen"Evethire suddenly announced quietly. He could hear voice drifting and bouncing in the distance.
It suddenly drifted away into lilting nothing. Looking behind just to check everyone was still there and also to see the tracks alternating as the company had travelled. He hoped despiratly that no one was following them. It seemed to have occured to Aireon as she too looked behind at his glance.
"Did you see someone out there in the fog Aireon?" he asked unknowingly of their prevoius conversation. Eorlas also listened. Evethire smiled as something passed between the other two elves. He just waited patiently and looked back to the undiscribed path.
Aireon with a interchoruse of Altariel they told the story of the cloak. Evethire frowned and just proclaimed they would arrive soon.
As they did the waters rushing in unison unmoved by their disturbance as Altariel dismounted and dipped her rubbed fingers in the water and gently touched her face.
The rest of the company came forward. Altariel straightened just to catch the different faces of the unique company. None of them looked encouragingly happy but they seemed pleased to finally arrive.
"We might make camp here." Evethire told them "even though night has not deepened to its darkest." He spotted Raen and though I shall talk to you later and nodded as he caught those threatning eyes of experience.
(sorry for using some of your chars but you can change them if you desire!!!!!!!!! Happy bout the brackets-Satin send devil-Arwen? :evil: Now I promised I would call you that some day and there you go! )
Aidem raised an eyebrow at the man who had calmed his horse, surprised at well, everything.
'Offended? Uhm.. no. I....' he stopped himself, for once, and the only time in his entire lifetime, at a loss as for what to say. 'Just surprised, I suppose.' Aidem shrugged and shook his head, frowning. He quickly nodded to the man of Rohan in thanks and studied his hands intently, rather bewildered. Not just because of the comment about not wanting to offend him, he had figured out it was because he was supposed to be a noble, but why even help in the first place? Aidem had never really received help from anyone before, and even such a small gesture was enough to set the wheels in his mind turning rapidly. Perhaps he wanted something, that man from Rohan. Aidem cast a suspicious glance at him and returned to his dull pondering.
Aidem dismounted as Everthire called to make camp, heaving an exasperated sigh as the Pied Piper danced underneath him, attempting to give him as much trouble in dismounting as possible.
'And a while ago you wanted me off,' he muttered and sneered, as he finally dropped to the ground.
(I don’t mind at all Leafy, beautifully done!! Sorry this shall be a short post, sleepy time for me)
Finally they had neared the greatly wanted river. Hearing a noise behind her, Aireon turned at the sound of voices. Noticing Evethire’s glance as well, yet neither found anything other than the rest of the company. A gut feeling told Aireon otherwise however, The black cloak, she thought uneasily.
"Did you see someone out there in the fog Aireon?” Evethire asked unknowing of their concealed conversation before. Aireon, with the undertone of Altariel told the story of the other black cloak.
Dismounting her horse, the red-haired maiden walked to the edge of the stream running swiftly along the soft eroded earth. As all others ran to the river dipping their hands in lapping up the clear deep water and dunking their heads in its refreshing bows, a jovial laughter sprung from her toes. Seeing the different members of the company splashing together and making a right good time out of the water fest, seemed to lift everyone’s spirits a bit from the heavy fog. Aireon quietly stared longingly at the blue water, her eyes reflecting the river’s shimmer. Gracefully she dipped a toe in, but as swiftly pulled her toe out again. Crouching, Aireon knelt her hands into the water, bringing the refreshing liquid to her crimson lips, she drank carefully looking as though she were a dainty lady although her delicacy drew of deeper reasons. Hearing the thankful call they shall camp at the river tonight, a smile etched over her fair face, knowing she would revisit the river during the night.
Rovan calmly dismounted and let Anto to the water. He frowned at the others. Childish... he thought, tenderly stoking Anto's sweaty wet neck. Then he kneeled down to drink, too. It was somehow normal for him to take care of the horse first. So he was taught, so Emmon had taught him. The horse is the one you can rely on during the ride, and it is your duty and for your own sake to make sure your mount is happy and well. His gaze drifted towards Aidem. That horse of his did have a temper. It might have been interesting to try to train him, a real challenge, he thought, before even realizing it. Then he stopped himself, surprised about this very thought. He hoped he would be better when in Rohan, finally.
(This is going to be as short-do not judge me by it.)
Splashing water echoed in full bloom. It seemed everyone had not had water for ages. It made Evethire smile and frown mockingly. It was cool near its edge. Evethire sucseeded in filling his water bottle and walking back to where Blethian stood nudging the growth under foot. The soils were hot and dry. He paated his brave horse and resumed to finding a place to get a fire going.
As night drew into a awakening with fly bitten evening his eyes settled on the man called by Raen.
"May I have a word?" The man drew his head back slightly and then smiled.
Evethire started quickly "When ever Sir." he turned and headed to find what sticks he could. It was in this instant that he realized a swift lonelyness was about him as he ventured away from the crowding company of nobles and friends.
Nothing seemed to stir for silence lingered in a harsh waiting fear. No it seemed something did watch. The hair on the back of his neck startled into recognition at fear. His elvish eyes looked around and then settled on something. It was in the distant but noticeable enough. He seemed to blink at the wrong moment because as his eyes looked back it was a visible as fog.
((Hehe why thank you very much Leafy lol! :evil: :evil: ))
'Raen, that wasn't an accident the first time and I'll be damned if it was the second time!'
A wide grin of amusement spread across Raen's face. He was well aware of the glances Aidem had received from some of the nobles, but was too entertained by Aidem's horse's antics to care. He had successfully managed to keep his own stallion in order but he watched as Aidem's began to spiral out of control. Riding along, he laughed as Aidem was thrown forward and grew frustrated.
"I'd have to agree with that!" Ari laughed as she pulled her horse over to them. "Raen, you might want to be more 'careful' with all of these accidents you keep having."
Raen turned his gaze to Ari and he replied good-humouredly, "It is not my fault my horse has a tendency to be skittish and bad-tempered." He gave a semblance of innocence as he looked at them, though his eyes twinkled with guilt. He saw Ari shake her head and was sure that Aidem would have retorted had he not been preoccupied in staying in the saddle.
Much to his surprise, one of the company reached forward and grabbed the rein's of Aidem's horse, pulling it down and covering it's nostrils. Raen noted that it was member of Evethire's company, the only mortal man that travelled with them. He studied the man as he successfully managed to calm the horse and realised that he must be from Rohan, judging by his skill. When he went to speak with Aidem, Raen decided to leave them alone and rode forward. The familiar silence settled once more throughout the group apart from those who conversed silently among themselves. Raen sighed deeply, he had tried more than once to break the awkward silence that hung down gloomily over their heads yet he only managed to disrupt everyone before it returned once again.
Looking eastward, Raen rode close to the front and stealthily listened to what Evethire was discussing with his companions that rode with him.
"Are we approaching our destination leader of this very strange company."
"Yes, we are, can't you hear the troubled waters hum?"
Raen's face broke into a grin at the mention of a strange company, for it was exactly what they were indeed. And it shall only grow stranger with every step. He thought cunningly. He closed his eyes and began to listen carefully, instead of focusing on the sights around him. He knew his hearing was not as acute as that of the elves, but it did not take him long to hear the sound of gushing waters some distance away. Opening his eyes, he glanced down to the ground looking for any other signs that they were nearing their destination. The ground was still of a golden colouring, yet hint of green began to appear and it became softer underfoot.
Without much further delay, they soon arrived at the Entwash. The ground was now a deep green and was covered in a layer of velvety moss. It had a fresh and live feel to it, and the ominous mood seemed to be lifted from the company at the sight of it. As they picked up their pace slightly, the Entwash soon came into view as its rushing waters separated into its several mouths. Raen could hear the sound very distinctively and his throat suddenly felt parched of water.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Levi gazed up with appreciative eyes at the sight of the Entwash. They had finally reached their destination for now. He listened to the roar of the waters as they passed into the lush green moss. He could feel the difference in the ground by the stride of his horse and it had become much softer. The ground surrounding the Entwash was known to be marshy and the river regularly burst it's banks during winter. Ahead of him, Evethire came to a halt as did his companions and one of the she-elves dismounted, approaching the waters.

They all soon drew up beside the Entwash and Levi sighed. This ground was familiar to him and judging by Raen's expression, he knew it well too. Dismounting from his stallion, Levi kept a tight hold on him as he approached the water. Allowing the horse to drink, he dipped his hands into the cool water and splashed it on his face. The water felt refreshing and cool on his skin and he smiled. Standing up once more, he glanced around at the others as they seemingly delighted in the water.

Raen quickly put his pipe away, before jumping down, careful to avoid his abdomen making contact with the saddle. Strolling to the water's edge, his horse pulled him before eagerly dipping his muzzle into the water. Raen sighed and shook his head. As he glanced around him, he caught Evethire's eyes and read what he saw in them before giving a slight nod. He understood that Evethire wished to speak with him and he would comply presently.

Spying a nearby stump he walked over and tied his stallion securely to it. There were no trees in this area, Fangorn Forest away to the north-west for a good distance so it took him by surprise to find a lone stump however he thought nothing of it and walked away from his horse. Spying Levi facing the water, his back to him, Raen's eyes shone with mischief. He ambled over and taking a quick glance around, he could see that everyone was preoccupied with obtaining some water. Swiftly he turned and gave Levi a strong shove, sending him crashing into the water.

Levi gave out an angry cry as he suddenly found himself rushing to meet the water. Before he could even close his mouth, he was underwater. The cold water hit him like a punch in the ribs and he rapidly emerged to the surface. Gasping, he spat out a mouthful of water and cast an irate eye at the riverbed. His angered eyes soon fell upon Raen who was in fits of hysterics, his laughter rolling across the waters and ringing in Levi's ears.

Making his way over to the shore he yelled a string of curses at Raen and climbed onto the bank. He was well aware of the surprised and shocked looks the others cast his way, but it mattered not to him, it would only make things more interesting in the near future as far as he was concerned.

Raen swiftly sprang away, knowing what Levi had in mind, a wicked grin upon his face. Levi shook his long black hair out of his face and glared at Raen, his drenched clothes clinging to him as he created a large pool of water. "Let me guess, you slipped?!" He uttered sarcastically.

Raen smiled innocently, "I do apologise deeply. The ground is very slippery over there!"

Levi glared at him before snatching his stallion's reins and leading him over roughly before tying him up beside Raen's not caring if they fought. As he approached Raen again, he quickly gave Raen a sharp punch in his abdomen, hitting the exact spot, although ensuring that no one could see what he had done. As Raen doubled over in pain, he swiftly tripped him up and soon Raen was lying on his back. "It appears that it is fairly slippery here also," He taunted with a wry smile.

Turning away from everyone, he stalked off and went to stand a far distance away from the others in the remaining evening sunshine. The sun was beginning to disappear below the mountains and the shadows grew longer as the fading sunlight cast orange hues across the plains, the river glittering brightly. Turning his back to the company, he gazed at the sunset as the sky ranged from an apricot orange blending into a dusty pink.

~~~~~~
Raen watched the disappearing back of Levi and shrugged before stiffly getting to his feet. The others soon helped to set up a camp and gather kindling for a fire, if it could be found. Raen moved away from the Entwash where the ground was drier and seated himself comfortably, pulling out his pipe again. His black eyes watched each member of the large company as they moved about but he remained silent and did not attempt much conversation with them unusually.
"May I have a word?"
Raen glanced up to see the eyes of Evethire staring down at him. He took the pipe out of his mouth, but did not answer immediately.
"When ever Sir."
Raen watched him as he turned away to gather some sticks. He did not move, but finished his pipe before deciding to go anywhere. Once he had done so, he slowly rose and walked over the he-elf. Clearing his throat he asked, "What is it that you wish to speak with me of?"
Okay everyone Evethire's lines are written by Leafy - thanks hun for your time :love:
"What is it that you wish to speak with me of?"
The man's voice washed over him. "You say you are familiar with our road?" Evethire replied still wondering of the far of mystery.
Raen listened to Evethire carefully before replying, "Indeed you speak the truth." He studied Evethire's face, wondering what was on the he-elf's mind, for clearly he had a question that he wished answered. He briefly glanced around him, seeing the others were still on the riverbank, all that is except for Levi. His black gaze flickered back to Evethire as he began to speak once more.
"Do you suggest we go to Limlight?" He asked.
Raen paused, a thoughtful look crossed his face as he turned due north in the direction of where the Limlight was located, a fair distance ahead of them yet. "Well, that decision lies with you, for I do not know of your intended destination."
The elf looked back at the man with mystical eyes. "Well, we are travelling to the Iron mountains. I would say I think it the best route." Evethire's eyes twitched as the sun sunk lower.
Raen's mind began to flow with thoughts as he debated whether to recommend the easier route or to lead them through dangerous paths instead. Deciding that he needed two members of the company to remain alive or he would not be paid, he finally nodded, "The Limlight would be the suggested route. It is best to stay on this side of the Anduin for as long as possible for we have not yet passed Emyn Muil and the ground is far too difficult to attempt travelling through. We would not be able to bring the horses and people are easily lost and never found again there when it is misty. It would cost you too much, especially time. I would recommend remaining on this side for as long as possible." He stopped, allowing Evethire to digest his information before asking, "Do you intend to visit Lórien?"
"Yes, I did.” Evethire thought it would do the company good to see the remaining elves that lived in such a place of finery. Evethire hesitated before he asked "How do you know these routes?" He studied the face of Raen and then dropped the gaze.
Raen's face clouded slightly at the thought of re-visiting Lórien, but he rapidly cleared it. He was far from loved in the forest of none other than the Lady of the Wood herself and he knew it would be an interesting experience to see how they would react to him. He had stained the forest floor one too many times in Lothlórien. They could not afford to have their identity revealed so early in the journey. Focusing on Evethire's question once more he responded. His face broke into a twisted smile with a touch of bitterness at the corners, at the question. "I have travelled to many places." He answered simply, not wishing to elaborate on the subject though he awaited to see if Evethire would question him further.
"Fair enough.” This man seemed uninterested in telling any more of his travels. "I meant no offence." He frowned and looked towards the others moving and splashing the water around them. "Well that shall be all, I do suppose. I had just wanted your advice.” he finished seeing that Raen would not have much to say of the curiosity of Evethire's.
Raen bowed his head and answered, "I shall give my advice whenever it is needed or called upon, for I have had both experience of the safest and most dangerous routes." He took a step backwards and turned away. He knew that the reason they had joined the company was because of their knowledge of the lands and that he must lead them through safe routes in order to retain their trust.
~~~~~~~

Levi casually watched Raen and Evethire conversing, and upon seeing Raen turning north and staring into the distance he presumed it was concerning the route of the journey. A malicious grin reached his lips as he wondered what had Raen advised, for he himself would lead them into the heart of danger and darkness.

Staring up at the sky, he noticed the sun had finally disappeared and that the auspicious stars had begun to appear in the night sky, shimmering brightly as the waxing moon shone her pale and soft light down in silver beams upon the earth. He smirked knowing the full moon was not far off.

Looking down he sighed, seeing that he was not in the slightest bit any drier than when he had emerged from the Entwash. He could hear the soft laughter from the company and soon a thin wisp of smoke curled in the air, clearly demonstrating they had managed to start a fire. His body gave a slight shiver as the cold began to seep through his skin from the sodden material. He thought of the warm flames but remained unmoved. He did not like to stay in the company of the others constantly and preferred to remain alone in peace for a while longer. He turned his back to them and his treacherous black eyes scanned the landscape.

Just then, his ears picked up the footstep of another heading in his direction. It was soft yet determined although hardly discernible. He did not turn around, but merely waited to see what they wanted or if they would pass him by.

Sila stopped a few feet behind Levi's soaked figure. She wasn't sure why she had felt compelled to find him, but she had, and now here she was with nothing to say. He hadn't turned around or acknowledged that she was there, but he surely knew that someone had come up to him. It seemed so odd, but Sila had felt lonely at the fire with Levi missing. Not that he was extremely social or anything, but she had missed his usually silent presence. But only Eru knew why. She took a tentative step towards him and draped the blanket she held over his shoulders. He turned around suddenly, an unreadable expression on his face. Sila smiled shyly.

"I thought you might be cold, since you're all wet." she turned and started to go back to the campfire, assuming that Levi would want his privacy.

"Wait," he said, grabbing her wrist. Sila turned back and looked at him curiously.

((okie-day, Arwen, it's all yours! *grin* We need to do live RP, maybe. Or just wing it. Live RP via PM also works....*wanders off*))

After the talk to Raen, Evethire fell silent as the darkly clad man strode away. The clouds had melted away to reveal darkness. They would go to the Limlight then Evethire conversed in his mind. Checking off into the path already travelled, that looked distant and unknown, he headed towards the light shimmering.
A fire had been elected from the sticks found and was much aprciated it seemed by many. Everyone was more talkitive and joyful as some sat and some stood. The shadows had raced away behind each person, scared of the light.
Evethire joined the sitting himself down by Altariel.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evethire's figure revealed by the light glow came towards her. Altariel felt assured now.
"Where have you been?"she asked friendly.
"Looking for a reason to fear."he whispered ever so quietly.
She drew serious and looked into his eyes. No joke lay there.
"Evethire, calm you worries, just for a while." It had startled her a little at his attitude to the fun.
"You speak truthfully." he replied inching a smile at her.
She shook her head and looked like she was trying to see all his thoughts. "You will never have fun, if you never try." she turned away and looked at the flames lapping the unconious wood.
On her side some of the other elves sat. "Do any of you know a worthy song?" she asked quickly.
Aidem sighed and slumped back against a tree, watching the Pied Pipier graze lazily around the small stake to which he was tied. He had been thoughtful enough to anchor his horse further away from the line of the other horses, (That needed to be held in place, at any rate, as the Elven horses most likely did not.) as he was sure if he didn't it would only result in strife. The thief stretched and yawned observing whoever was in his line of sight and contemplating whatever random topic happened to emerge in his thoughts.
On impulse, he got to his feet and glanced around, feeling the need to get away from the others. Aidem just couldn't stand too much time around people, any people, most times they just annoyed the heck out of him. And being rather paranoid didn't help. So, he quickly slipped away from the others and wanderd down the bank until he just stopped walking and stared out over the waters of the river, still thinking about people, namely those who had influenced his past.
(((Sorry, that was a little weird, but i'm just crazy and philosophical and stuff tonight.... :dizzy: ))))
Long gray shadows cast themselves on the mossy ground before the company as the sun sunk swiftly below the horizon. Ëorlas rode on in silence, keeping Arodas steady with Evethire's gallant horse at the front of the group. Through heavy eyelids he stared impassively at the rode ahead of them with little interest, and it suddenly occurred to him that his sense of direction was spent. Never before had he been in this area, and it aggravated him, not knowing what course they took.
Before long, the sound of running water sung in his ears, and tiredness was replaced with curiosity. As the water drew near, Ëorlas watched the surroundings with aesthetical eyes, hoping it wouldn’t be much further to ride. It was merely the beginning of dusk when they approached the Entwash, and the wooded area was still an orange and golden hue. Ëorlas dismounted and positioned himself to finally get a good glimpse of the whole company. A light smile spread across his lips, realizing how strange the two companies looked together, then began to lightly comb through Arodas’s mane with his long fingers.
Crouching down to touch the cool water, Ëorlas cupped some in his hands and repeatedly splashed it on his face. The intense cold woke up his senses and restored some intended energy back into his body. Just after the sun had gone, someone from the noble company got a fire going without any trouble at all. He sat down near Altariel and spoke quietly with her until Evethire took a seat at her side. Ëorlas swallowed hard and narrowed his eyes as he gazed into the healthy fire. Through the flames on the other side of the fire, his eyes caught a dark haired women sitting alone. She was staring at the ground, but got up momentarily heading for the Entwash. He hoped eventually everyone would actually start conversing with each other. It seemed foolish to him, not talking to them, but where to begin?
"Do any of you know a worthy song?" Altariel asked quickly, her voice piercing the silence
Ëorlas smiled as he heard what Altariel had said. He loved to sing, but dared not to in the presence of others, especially Men. With his elbows resting on his knees, he held his head in his hands watching Aireon at waters edge as a song ran through his head. Bit by bit, the verses were refreshed in his mind and mouthed the words on his lips inconspicuously.
Soft is the grass, and let foot be like feather!” he whispered to himself, then yawning as sleepiness threatened.
White fluffy clouds broke through the blue heavens. The large orange sun perched upon a mountain peek blossoming tangerine rays bursting throughout the sky, melting into a rosy color, a thin line of violet scattering into the darkening blue.
Walking towards the campfire built easily by one of the royals, Aireon sat opposite Ëorlas. The licking flames reflecting in her dazzling blue eyes, a feeling mirroring the flames flickered in the depths of her gaze as she stared through the wall of flame into Ëorlas’ deep blue gaze. A song verse played upon his lips. Hearing the words softly, a bright smile curved the tips of Aireon’s scarlet lips. Taking up the song, Aireon’s melodically full voice rang out in a velvety flowing tune, like a silky clear babbling brook mixed with the sweet smell of wild flowers. Soon everyone’s previous gloomy state had all been washed away, as a lively tune, and conversation replaced accompanied with food and drink.
Taking her opening after the songs, Aireon walked around the log fire, and plopped beside Ëorlas. “How are you mellon nin?” she asked with a cheerful smile. Biting her lower lip in thought, Aireon glanced to the river. Knowing well she would go swimming that night when she thought everyone was asleep, Aireon wondered if she would ask Ëorlas to join her. He knew of her oddities, but he never saw her beneath the water. Concluding the subject risky she decided upon not asking. Returning her smiling eyes to him, she waited patiently for his reply, and they talked into the evening conversing with the rest of the company as well. Aireon getting to know the rest of their companions as the night went on.
A full moon rose in the ebony blanketing the sky. Pulling back a flap of a small tent, glowing blue eyes gazed at the other small tents they each had pitched. Stepping silently the hem of her deep red and white gown brushed the dark earth as Aireon made her way to the waters edge. Beneath the moonlight Aireon’s creamy-peach skin seemed to glow like a pearl. Placing a foot into the brisk clear water the radiant glow seemed to surround her, as she waded into the river. Turning her eyes to the sky a smile graced her fair face as she swished her iridescent aqua mermaid tail beneath the waters surface. Diving into the blueness, the water enveloped Aireon, as she swam down to the bottom of the river, which was surprisingly deep. Making summersaults in the water and contenting herself racing up and down the river, against the current and gliding along its stream. Gazing upward, her blue eyes saw the light show above, swimming upon the surface. ‘The world is so beautiful’ Aireon thought to herself, never knowing how anyone could not stop a moment and wonder at it’s radiance. Swimming quickly upward, Aireon broke the placid surface. Strolling along the shore of the river, Aireon glanced back at the glistening water a smile etching her features once more as she turned back toward her tent. Rays of moonlight shown upon her wet crimson hair spilling in curls down her back, and her sopping red, and white gown clinging to her thin feminine figure.
(Well done everyone-brilliant posts :love
Her eye lids closed to the lapping light that had developed around the essembled company. Aireons voice was gentle but sweet. Its words flowed over their heads. Generaly the mood grew happier, Altariel noticed. As her voice halted other voices mumbled between thwmselves. Her eyes opened to reveal the smiles and cheers of the people.
"That was amazing Aireon." she whispered, leaning towards her. Aireon just took it in her elegant stride.
The night grew on into a low hum of midnight creatures. The air drew a slow rasping breath in and never let it out. Tents were elevated in unison near the bobbing light. People still lingered near and around the fire finishing hushed conversation.
Altariel sat near Aireon and Eorlas. They were talking softly. Altariel didn't listen but just let their words wash over her as she stared vaguly towards the fire. Every so often she felt footsteps pass behind her. She longed to talk to the noble travellers but her courage failed as she keep her gaze averted. They all seemed friendly and well travelled. A smoke ring made her head turn. Some one was smoking. She seached for the source as she realized they weren't the only ones relaxing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evethire straightened his back and smiled as Aireon finished. She had a talent for singing alright.
He was the first to get up and stretch. With that he went to is horse and got some things to help put up a tent. It went up easily. Blethian was not to sure of it as he backed away.
"Dont be silly boy." Evethire told him. He proceeded to the stream running fast. He cupped his fingers and put them in the water. They tingled for a bit and then he heard something near by. His eyes stilled of the from of Aireon. He nodded at her and after getting the water he went back to the campside. The fire was low now and bearly gave much light but it may have been able to detire what passing gaze unwanted. Evethire saw Altariel but desided not to talk to her as she seemed in deep thought. Instead he tapped Alagithildin on the shoulder and said "goodnight Lady, Sir." at Randir also.
Spotting some of the nobles he nodded at them and muttered his good night. With that he walk to Blethian standing not near anyone and gave him the water pale to drink from. Smooth lapping was heard as the night life continued.

Aidem could hear the others talking amongst themselves down the bank. He glanced back up the river, almost jealously in their direction. On impulse he bent and scribbled a few names in the damp dirt, listing any people who had ever gotten close to him. His mother and father and sister all went under one category: family. He didn't much care about his family, in fact, his feelings for them bordered on hatred. That was why he had left all those years ago, because of them..... But Aidem didn't think on that much and moved on the another name. A horse breeder, who had sold him a fine anumal for very little money. if it weren't for that man, Aidem probably never would have made it out of the north- western reaches of Middle-earth to Minas Tirith, the only place he had ever truely loved being. He scrawled down a few more names, in his sharp spidery writing, recalling what they did for him, good or ill, and paused at the end of the list, considering whether or not to add one last name. With a shrug, Aidem got up, kicked dirt over the list and walked back to the camp sight slowly, his head hung in thought.

That list of his was so short, and it almost made him wish he could trust people. But Aidem had long since learned his lesson, and found himself quite unable to ever take such a risk again. His gaze drifted over the group of people he was traveling with. Everyone had formed their own little clusters of those they knew or had gone off to sleep. Aidem couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy for those people, all of whom had someone they were close to. Alone even among my own kind.... he shook his head sadly before sliding down that tree to a sitting position and dozing off.

((Alright Rosie here it is if you want me to change anything to your liking let me know ))

As Levi stood watching the river in the moonlight, he remained stock still as the footsteps drew nearer. They came up behind him and stopped abruptly. He automatically fingered his nearest dagger subconsciously as they took a small and cautious step forward. Feeling something about his shoulders as the heavy blanket rested on his tall frame, he whirled around to face whoever it was. Sila stood before him.

"I thought you might be cold, since you're all wet." She turned to leave and began walking away.

"Wait," he replied as he caught Sila by the wrist, his eyes searching hers. The silver moonlight shone down upon her and created a soft silvery glow surrounding her. Her eyes reflected the light as they illuminated her curiosity and locked their gaze with Levi's own black ones. He stood there for a moment, studying her beautiful features in the moonlight, completely oblivious of what he had been about to say to her.

He felt her arm move slightly and he quickly released it, breaking his gaze with slight embarrassment as he realised he had been staring at her. "T...thank you, " he finally managed to answer and gave her a small smile. He kept his gaze diverted from her as he swiftly focused on concealing his humiliation and returning to his usual state of mind. He shook his head wondering what was wrong with him, never before had he been embarrassed by his actions no matter what they were. He couldn't understand why he felt so.

Sila kept her gaze fixed within the depths of Levi's black and dangerous eyes. They seemed to keep her gaze fixed there and unable to break away. His tall frame was illuminated by the moonlight at his back giving him an eerie silver outline, the features on his face highlighted in the moon's watery beams. She felt her heart fluttering as he smiled at her, unable to look away from his handsome face. She found herself to be holding her breath although for what reason she could not think of.

Levi gave a slight cough in attempt to break the silence. The still quietness within the company was awkward but the silence which had developed now was even more so, but of a different kind. He was speechless. Never before had he found himself at loss for what to say. He racked his brains to think of something to say to Sila - anything, but his voice was lost. He scanned the dark area around them, looking anywhere but in front of himself. However he found his eyes drawn to Sila, unable to stray away for long.

Suddenly he spied the others erecting tents and singing voices were carried over in their direction. Turning back to Sila, Levi took a step back and frowned, a surly look creeping onto his face as his eyes seemed to shrink and grew hard and cold. He became slightly distant as thoughts raced through his mind, one after the other. He was not himself, and was allowing himself to fall into too easy a trap. He could not let it happen and he would not. He spoke to her, a slight edge in his voice, "You should return back to the others, they will begin to wonder where you are."

Sila was slightly taken aback by this sudden change in Levi. A hurt and confused look filled her eyes and she dropped them to the ground to avoid Levi's now piercing stare. He bewildered her so with his highly unpredictable and capricious ways. She could not understand how his mood could swing from being so gentle and quiet to one so cold and bitter. She began to move away from him, but something inside her was screaming to stay. Attempting to keep her eyes fixed to the ground, she slowly walked away, however she was compelled to set her eyes upon his face once more before leaving.

Levi had seen the hurt look in Sila's eyes and he wished he hadn't been so cold towards her. He watched her slowly retreating back to the others and swung around angrily in frustration. What has gotten into to me?! he thought irritably. Sighing, he pulled the blanket closer around his tall and agile frame and closed his eyes. Sila had left him with a lot to think about.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Raen sauntered over to where the others had currently decided to set up camp. He could see that already they had managed to start a fire and were all eagerly huddled around it. The mood of the company seemed to have lifted somewhat and they began to talk amongst themselves, before one of them broke into song. A silence washed over the company as they all listened to the melodic voice carried across the winds as the Entwash's waters babbled behind.
Sitting himself down on the ground, a distance behind the company in the shadows he kept all of them in view before settling himself comfortably. He pulled out his pipe once again and the glowing orange embers were soon visible from the darkness. Casting a glance around the company, Raen noticed that Levi and Aidem were missing. He quickly scanned around him wondering if they were causing any trouble, yet he soon spotted Levi's tall, lone figure standing a fair distance away from everyone else and he knew that Aidem was some other where.
Just then, Sila rose from her place by the fire and took a blanket. Raen thought nothing of it until he saw her walking away from everyone else. To his utmost surprise he saw that she was headed straight for Levi. He raised his eyebrows and watched her delicate figure approach Levi, ready to go over and intervene should Levi prove to be in an ill mood. He rolled his eyes when he thought of his brother. He was extremely similar to himself yet so different at the same time. Obviously Raen knew that there were certain things that could account for that, but he had decided that Levi was exceptionally unpredictable. Raen never placed his full trust in anyone but himself, although he often gave the semblance of trusting someone. However he was extremely relaxed and never trusted anyone as he himself was extremely dishonest so he knew what consequences could lie in wait. He also preferred his own better judgement than the one of others. However were he to place his full trust in someone, he knew that it would not be Levi. He hoped that after speaking with Sila she would pay heed to what he told her and be careful.
Once he saw Levi turn around and seem perfectly calm, he turned away and lazily glanced around. Evethire and some of his companions erected tents on the soft ground while Ari stoked the fire. He smiled when he saw her but did not call out as she looked perfectly content in the warmth and he did not wish to disturb her. Pulling his cloak tighter around him, he listened to their idle conversations while he kept a sharp watch on his surroundings. Raen did not expect an attack but did it more out of habit than requirement.
Some time later, Raen noticed a shadow interrupting the flickering glow of the flames and glanced up to see Sila. He nodded to her and was about to look away when he noticed the expression on her face. Frowning slightly he took his pipe out of his mouth and spoke to her, "Sila is something wrong?" He paused and awaited questioningly for her reply. As she glanced over to him, he beckoned for her to join him where he sat.
One of the nobles came to the light. Altariel smiled at her and then saw her face which looked upset. Raen was the first to speak to her. Altariel bowed her head again into her crossed arms. She had failed to talk to any of them. This wouldn't have mattered except she kept thinking of them all.She had a desire to say something she would be remembered by and so they would think she was not just a girl coming on an adventure just to look better than she was. She looked around for Evethire. He wasn't anywhere to be seen.
She closed her eyes once more just to rest them and straighten her thoughts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Evethire turned towards the fire and saw a few figures. They were not able to be recognized. A coldness swept over him.
Turning his back to Blethian, Evethire sat down beside the fire.
"'Quel undome" Evethire spoke to them all. *good evening*
Altariel opened her eyes and replied "To you to Evethire"
His eyes drifted like the others to the fire still burning lower and lower. Its glow was defining unknown features. Everyones eyes were dark and deeply cast.
"Altariel what are you thinking" he whispered.
"I shouldn't have come."
"Why do you say that."
"I only came to help you and how am I supposed to help you." She spoke in a very low tone of voice."I cant fight at all well, I have to make a show of myself at the first and Im probably just an annoyance."
Evethire frowned, she had never been like this before. "Where your determination?"
"Gone with the fog."she replied.
"Well then youmight as well return home. You wont get anywhere if you cant take a step afraid of a trap."
She looked at him crossly "Thanks, I will"

She got up and walked away towards Serithion, standing pawing the ground as usual. She didnt mount though. She was just beng stupid.Her anger from a source she didnt know was building in her and she associated it with Evethire.
Serithion nudged her and rubbed his strong head on her back.
"Serithion, you are impossible." Her voice was lost to silence.The horse replied by nibbling her hair in a playful manner. She threw her eyes to heaven and shook her head. "You will be the death of me one day, you know."
With that she tightened her cloak and walked a little way and sunk to the ground. Her hair trickled down her back and ended on the earth. She felt calm and less frastrated. The stars were blinking at her. Altariel thought of Minas Tirith. How she was rescued and looked after by good friends. Her joy to find Evethire and hear of his travels. To meet new faces and feel the sense of adventure. Now she was once again alone and had no sense of adventure. She blamed Evethire. He had got mixed up with people who probably hated him. He hardly knew them. That man Raen and Aidem and Raen's brother. The ladies seemed nice but that man from Rohan, she had not seen him for a while. She was being paranoid. they were decent people. She was the problem.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Evethire listened to hear hooves. He knew she wouldn't go. Then in the far off distance he did hear hooves. Many hooves, running, galloping. He studied the his light boots as his sense of hearing grew stronger. These hoves sounded uncontrolled and they seemed to be getting closer by the second. He looked around to see if anyone else heard them. Everyone else was muttering in conversation. He wasn't so sure.
(Sorry this is complete rubbish but my next post will e on Tues! :cry: Miss you already!)
Alagithildin and Randir sat at the edge of the firelight, not wanting to draw attention to themselves. Sitting quitely Alagithildin listen to the conversations around the compfire. Her green eyes fell on Altariel and Evethire talking quietly. She could not hear what they said but the look in Altariels eyes was that of frustrasion. Altariel suddenly got up and walked towards her horse. Alagithildin's attention drifted back to the rest of the curious company. Randir lay down next to her trying to sleep. The noise from the rest of the group was keeping him awake. Suddenly the earth beneath him began to quake, he sat up to listen for any noise and the small sound of many beating hooves reached his ears. Alagithildin looked over her shoulder having heard it also. Silently they got up and walked towards it. The noise grew and the thunder became closer and closer. "Quick, up the tree!" whispered Randir. As they climbed Alagithildin spotted the source of the noise, a herd of horses was galloping towards the group, but she could not see if they had riders or not. A howl pierced the air sending a shiver down her spine. "Wargs!" Randir shouted looking out at the herd. "No, those are horses I'm sure of it, the wargs are far off to the left of the them, and heading for Minas Tirith." she whispered. Scrabling down the tree Randir and Alagithildin raced back to the campfire where the company stood looking towards the noise, "A herd of horses is coming strait for here, everyone into the trees!" Shouted Randir, and the company scattered taking packs and provisions up into the trees. Alagithildin spotted Evethire helping Altariel up a large tree and sprinted over to him. "Evethire, Wargs are riding to Minis Tirith, we don't know thier numbers, or if they are with orcs, but Randir and I must warn the King. We can no longer stay with your company!" Alagithildin shouted over the growing noise. Jumping down from the tree Alagithildin raced over to her horse. Randir ran behind her and Mounted his own steed. "Noro lim Elril, noro lim!" She shouted and the pair raced out of the clearing towards Minis Tirith. It was now a race against time.
((sorry it's really bad!! I'm having writers block!:dizzy: I had fun writing with you guys! See you all around!!Toodles!))
"Wargs!"
Evethire's senses whizzed. their first encounter? He looked towards the other faces. People had risen who also looked corious.He was sure they couldn't be. It sounded like horses.
"No, those are horses I'm sure of it, the wargs are far off to the left of the them, and heading for Minas Tirith." he heard someone state.
"A herd of horses is coming strait for here, everyone into the trees!"
Evethire took the point and helped a few into the trees. The thundering noise hastened faster towards them. Evethire heart beat also galloped. It surprised him to hear Alagithildin's voice amoungst the comotion.
"Evethire, Wargs are riding to Minis Tirith, we don't know their numbers, or if they are with orcs, but Randir and I must warn the King. We can no longer stay with your company!"
"If you wish. Aa' menle nauva calen ar' ta hwesta e' ale'quenle Farewell!"
*May thy paths be green and the breeze on thy back *
With that, Randir and his fair maiden rode away into the cloud formed by hooves ploughing the land. It was a sad way of parting. The noise grew stronger which switched his thoughts to the present.
Dust riddles the air. He couldn't see the horses riders or anything recognizable, though they were definatly horses.
He could hear naughing and snorts. He came to believe they were wild and free.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Altariel stood to attension. Something was coming, unwanted.
Randir and Alagilthildin were the first to react. They climbed a tree and told that they were of equine origin and wargs threatened Minas Tirith.

Climbing a tree to see she spotted the cloud of charging horses. They swept the dark land like a brush.
They were getting close. She got back down and retrieved a bow. Just in case she thought. Holding by her side she went to stand beside the company.
It sounded like thunder. The ground shuddered.

As the group of champing horses drew features. Their eyes flamed into vision. Beady they remained and untamed. Heading in unison in full rage to the entwash.
Nothing could stop them.

Rovan was standing aside, talking to his horse quietly. The only being he could talk to, when he really needed. No, in fact, he was ashamed to join the others at the fireplace. Everybody was dining, but all he had was three loaves of old bread. He thought about going to hunt, but it might appear strange on the first night. Eh, whatever. He turned to advise Evethire about his plans when the sound of horses running reached his ears, and the warning cries of his still unknown companions were heard. He stood watching the horses approach. Wild horses? Here?!

Anto stumped his leg on the ground, nervous. Rovan's eyes drifted towards the other horses. They were nervous, too. Having spent all his life among horses, Rovan knew them well. They would run with the flock. Maybe only the elven horses wouldn't, so he had heard. But the others...

So what? Those are not my horses! Their masters should keep an eye on their mounts! And having seen their way of riding and controlling them, it is more than possible that the nobles will walk back to Minas Tirith on their two. Rovan smiled to himself. That would be a nice view! But then... He didnhad no idea why did the elf had them with him. Maybe he didn't know the way to the Iron Mountains. And this would mean he wouldn't be able to get there either...

This was enough for him to decide. He took the rope he had hanging at Anto's saddle.

"Stay," he commanded the dark brown horse. He was sure the stallion would remain rooted to the spot until another word from his masted released him. Rovan runned to where the nobles' horses were all together, and unfolded the rope. He had very little time. The mounts were already unsaddled. Too bad. He threw the rope on the neck of the large black stallion who was the hardest to control, and quickly tied the reigns of the others to the rope. He hoped they would hold. Then he tied the other side of the rope to a nearby tree. He almost was too late. . The black stallion neighed prancing. Rovan run to him and grabbing his thic mane mounted him.

"Easy, easy! You don't have to run with them..." he tried to calm the trembling stallion down.

The horses rushed past like a raging stream. The nobles' mounts were neighing and prancing, but the reigns were made of a good leather and didn't break. Rovan was amazed of the strength of the black horse. He suspected the beast would easily tear the rope and run away, pulling the others with him.

((Navaer ~GilEstel~ we will miss you Alright I think it's time to waken the rest of you all up from the Halls of Mandos!! ))

As Raen studied Sila's face, the flames cast a shadow over her making her expression more difficult to read, but he was a master at piercing through any form of shadow and so he quickly saw the hurt that was evident. He waited patiently for her to answer him and he patted the ground, motioning for her to sit beside him. As he did so, he felt a rumble travelling through the ground and cocked an eyebrow. He patted the ground again and the rumble grew louder. He shook his head and smirked, before repeating what he had just done, finding it totally amusing.

Suddenly the rumble became much more obvious and he felt a tremor through the ground. Sprawling out, he placed his ear to the ground and listened. A loud thundering pounded through his head, the sound of horses' hooves reverberated in his ears, yet they were some distance away, although they were travelling rapidly in their direction. With a small chuckle he sprang to his feet. He could only imagine that there were Riders of Rohan heading their direction. He cast a quick glance around the company and realised that no others had noticed, apart from Evethire perhaps, as he gazed alertly into the distance. Turning his gaze towards the horses he could see that they were restless and edgy.

Moments later, the ground began to tremble with the very impact of the hooves. It was clearly a large regiment, he decided. The remainder of the company soon realised and they all jumped to their feet. Spying two in Evethire's company climbing a small tree, he listened intently to their conversation,

"Wargs!"

"No, those are horses I'm sure of it, the wargs are far off to the left of the them, and heading for Minas Tirith."

A crooked smile reached Raen's lips. Wargs? Clearly the evils from the east were still determined to seek their revenge on Minas Tirith and the King. Although he knew they were quietly growing in power away over the Ashen Mountains, how many there were he knew not. However he was certain Levi could probably feel it. His mind travelled back to what else he had heard. So there were horses alright, that he knew from listening. As they drew nearer, he could determine from their speed that these horses were clearly out of control. He frowned, it was highly unlikely that the Rohirrim's horses would be out of control, even in the very face of evil as they were so well trained. He did not have much more time to think about it as the horses were nearly on top of them now and he quickly began to move away.

"A herd of horses is coming strait for here, everyone into the trees!"

Raen stopped dead in his tracks and swivelled around. Trees? He thought with a cocked eyebrow, What trees? Scanning around him, he saw the stump where the horses were and two small trees. Shrugging he guessed that the two smalls ones could just about hold a person each, but considering the size of their group he doubted it would do much help. As fragments of rock began to fly in their direction, Raen quickly grabbed Ari and pulled her towards the riverbank away from the herd. The others followed suit, except for two, whom Raen recognised to be the one's who rode with Evethire. In truth he only knew two name's including Evethire from that company. As they mounted up and rode away he knew that they were leaving to aid Minas Tirith, whatever good it would do.

The herd was nearly upon them now and Raen made out their outlines. It was evident that they had no riders. He frowned, wondering what a herd of wild horses were near here, but he presumed they were from a nearby settlement that the Wargs had ransacked. He heard loud snorts and neighs and cast a glance over to their own horses. He could see that the man from Evethire's company was attempting to prevent them from escaping. He was prepared to stand and watch his struggles when he remembered the fine black stallion he had made the effort to steal from the royal stables. He was not about to let that steed escape.

Dashing over to the horses, he saw that the man was astride his black stallion and attempting to calm the wild beast. Raen made a grab for the rope that had been expertly tied and started to help hold the horses back. The wild herd raged past them, crushing everything in sight and destroying the camp. Large clouds of dust had been risen, and rocks struck everyone as they came from all directions beneath the horses' hooves.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Levi remained where he was, a pensive expression across his face. He kept recalling the look on Sila's face before she hurried away from him. Sighing, he picked up a rock and flung it towards the river, watching as it skimmed across the water's glassy surface before finally sinking to the riverbed. He glanced behind his shoulder towards the company briefly and watched them all talking happily to one another.
Suddenly he felt a cold draught sweeping across him, yet his shoulder felt extremely hot. A lone cry bored into his head yet he knew it was still far away yet. Levi became aware of the oncoming pack of Wargs and knew they were seeking blood and revenge. He could feel it. Casting another glance at the others he contemplated whether he should warn them or not. A malicious glint crept into his eyes as he decided not to. He did not owe anything to the company and he was interested to see how the strangers could fight in a surprise attack.
However as the Wargs approached, he sensed them taking a turn away towards Minas Tirth and he realised they would not be visiting the company tonight. He sighed and began to walk down the riverbank slowly. Disappointed that they had missed their opportunity for some excitement for the night. But it was then that he picked up the pounding of hooves, which were clearly heading straight for them. Their pace was wild and uncontrolled and they were covering the ground very rapidly.
He looked out to the distance and in the light of the moon, he spotted large clouds of dust rising, the vague outline of the horses just visible. He continued to walk slowly, but it was not too long until the company too heard the noise. They all scrambled to their feet and ran out of the way of the stampede. Levi did not linger in the way for long but quickly turned away from the river and made his way towards the others. As he ran, he spotted Sila standing in the fray and quickly grabbed her, bringing her with him to the riverbank. Once the horses came raging past, Levi released Sila and watched the scene with a sense of excitement in his eyes. He was not good at socialising with others and something like this provided the perfect distraction.
In hast the company moved from direct line of stampede. The man of Rohan had got the point that the horses of the company might also run off with the herd of wild horses. He had grabbed them in quick timeing. The snorting bodies came nearer.
Showers of debries flooded the air nashing at everyone causing scratches and scrapes. Evethire held fast on Blethian just as to calm the horse. He was young and even tough under elvish fashion still had a wild spirit. Altarial stood with the others watching their strong force run past.
With a roll of what sounded like thunder and the destruction of the camp, including all the tents the horses past towards The Wold.
Everyone came out from their standing posts.
"Well that was fun." Evethire joked sarcastically looking at their ruined camp. Everything was torn. The fire smoking. Ashes covered the surrounding ground. The water pitchers tumbled and broken.
Folorn faces looked also. They had wonderful luck it seemed.
Why had Alagitlilden left such in a hurry. Traitorshe thought wickedly just for the satifaction of letting his anger out. He returned to being an elf.
"This isn't the end so lets get another fire going and see what we can do." he announced.
The night was cold and without tents the weather was lying on a thin line. He hope for everyones sakes it would hold until tomorrow at least. He walked to the man near the horses, who he knew as the man of Rohan. He never knew his proper name, it had always seemed he would rather keep it a secret.
"Thank you, Im glad you are very au fait with horses. It seems we need your skill. So I thank you." Evethire waited for a reply before turning hoping he was on the right side of this man, as he had been harsh before.
Rovan finally got the black stallion under control. The last three of the wild horses rushed past, and the storm was over. One of the nobles was standing nearby, all covered with dust, and Rovan guessed he must look just the same. As they untied the rope that was holding the nobles' horses together, a voice from behind startled Rovan, and he sworled around.
"Thank you, Im glad you are very au fait with horses. It seems we need your skill. So I thank you."
It was the elf, Evethire. Rovan couldn't understand how come the elf had come to stand beside him without a single sound! Then he decided it must be because of the dust. He shrugged.
"Don't thank me, sir. It was in my own interests not to let the horses escape. If you will excuse me, I must see to my own mount," Rovan answered seriously, without any hostility, but also without any friendly tone. He took his rope and set it again on it's former place by Anto's saddle.
"Good boy, very good," he caressed the horse behind the soft and restlessly moving ears, and the animal lowered his head in delight, so that Rovan could reach higher.
Sila had been off in her own thoughts when the horses had stampeded through, but she was safe, in someone's arms at the riverbank. She had closed her eyes when she realized what was happening, and hadn't opened them when someone grabbed her hand and dragged her to where the ground was soft and the water loud. She stood still, trying to slow her heartbeat and her breathing.
"Are you alright?" Levi asked her quietly. Levi? Sila's eyes snapped open to see Levi looking down into her eyes with a concerned expression. She felt as if he could read her face with ease, and felt a blush creeping up her cheeks in the dark.
"Yes, I'm fine." she looked down at the water. "Thank you." Sila honestly couldn't understand how she kept forgetting her situation, a hostage being held for ransom. Of course, pretending that she was coming of her own free will gave a bit of that illusion. She noticed suddenly that Levi's arms were still protectively around her shoulders. As if he had read her mind, he suddenly released her and took a step backwards. Sila frowned a little, almost wishing that he hadn't let go.
"You should be more careful, m'lady." Levi said sternly, but with a hint of laughter in his voice. Sila smiled a little, and her eyes sparkled.
"I thought it was your job to watch out for me?"Image
There was a click as Altariel fastened her Elvish bow to a restless Serithion. Her hair flowed in the uplifting breeze.The fire still glowed from the renwed wood put on it. Altariel had risen in the earliest hours of the morning.
The previous night's events seemed far in the past, though hoof prints marked the ground everywhere.
The silky moon lit the darkness within the endless sky. It was reflected in the river, but it got broken into millions of pieces.
Everyone slept now, well she though they did. Nothing moved for a while except the water. Altariels eye looked far across the Entwash that she had come to. It was a vast ocean of mystery. She knew it lead to the Limlight but it all appeared untrodden in the dull light. Somewhere far away an animal howled. It made her feel calmer as she was an elf. Nature was much prefered to the town malarkey. It all had seemed to close and pushed. It howled again, or maybe another did. She flopped down onto the soft bank. Her skin touched the chilled waters edge. It was soft like silk compared to the land surrounding the entwash.
The howl got nearer. It was more focused and acute. Altariel didn't pay attension to it until it was answered with a snarl. She flew back to the present.
It sounded close and aggressive. She glared around searching for cold eyes. Nothing could be seen. If it was a sort of Wolf she didn't think it would come close to the camp since it had fire. She thought they would last until the morning anyway.
On hausting herself up she left her cloak on the ground vacant. She proceeded back to the place where Evethire was to see was he awake.
Sleep lingered over him. He was breathing ever so quietly. She sat against the only tree there and rested he mind.
By the river a paw stood on the cloak and sniffed it fiercly. The smell of flesh it got from it. Indeed it had cold eyes, they searched around to spot what they had thought they were looking for.
The stampede of horses eventually thundered past in a whirlwind of dust and were soon a mere cloud in the distance. They had however, raised large amounts of dust and the whole camp was surrounded in a haze of dust and dirt as it drifted in the air, forming large vaporous clouds. The earth began to agitate everyone’s lungs and the sounds of people coughing could be heard. Raen remained exactly where he was, deciding not to move until he could see where he was going, not wanting to risk falling into the river or walking into the large stump where the horses were previously tied.
Eventually the dust began to settle once more, and the outlines of the others became perceptible. Raen helped the Rohirric man untie the horses, before leading them over and stationing them at the decayed stump once again. Once he was satisfied that they were securely tied, he glanced around himself at the remnants of the camp. The fire had been completely extinguished, a thick layer of dust covering it. He smirked, knowing that in a sparse area such as this, it would be difficult to find sufficient kindling to start another one. The tents that belonged to Evethire’s company were torn and had been run to the ground, now a filthy pile of cloth and broken frames. The water too had been spilt and the pitchers crushed, yet that mattered not as they were located directly beside a whole river of gushing water.
Looking down, Raen realised that he too was enveloped in a layer of dust, his black clothing now pale in hues of grey and brown. He chuckled at the sight of himself and with a quick glance around he realised that he was not the only one who had received the same outcome. He watched while Evethire attempted to reassemble the camp with the help of some of the others. He shrugged, not caring for a camp and continued to cast his gaze around him. Spotting Levi speaking with Sila, he saw how both of them had managed to escape the covering of dust as they were standing at the riverbank. Raen rolled his eyes, before glancing down at himself again. His skin felt dry from the dust and his eyes began to sting. He searched for something to relieve his agitation and his eyes fell upon the river, with a delighted grin he quickly walked over before wading his way into the centre of the icy cold water. The water around him turned cloudy as the dust was washed from his clothing. Without a further thought, Raen plunged under the water’s surface and attempted to divest himself of all the dust and grime that lingered about his skin and hair.
Once he was satisfied that he had rid himself of all the dust, Raen scrambled out onto the riverbank once more, now in the form of a dripping shadow. He walked over to the camp again, surprised to find that they had already succeeded in restoring order to all their possessions so swiftly and already a small glow had been revived from the warm embers of the fire now that they had uncovered the dust. Approaching the fire, Raen shook his wet hair, showering everyone with water and stood right in front of the fire, shaking out his sodden clothes too in an effort to dry them. He grinned at everyone who sent him irritated glares, but remained unmoved. As soon as he was no longer dripping, Raen moved off and walked over to his horse. Reaching inside his saddle bags, he pulled out his spare pipe that wasn’t wet and smiled happily. Lighting it quickly, he moved off and found the exact same place he had been sitting before the horses had arrived. He dumped himself down on the ground as before and settled comfortably.
Watching the scene around him, he became aware of a figure passing by, glancing up he recognised the gait to be Ari’s and her fair features soon came into view. Reaching out rapidly, Raen grabbed her wrist and pulled her down beside him. He heard her give a small cry of surprise and put an arm around her shoulders as his black eyes glittered warmly, gazing tenderly into her fine face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sila smiled a little, and her eyes sparkled. "I thought it was your job to watch out for me?"

Levi’s eyes glinted and he grinned before replying, “Indeed it is, but that does not imply that you should throw caution to the wind and wait for me to rescue you from danger that may cross your path.” He lowered his voice and leaned in close to her before whispering softly in her ear, “Whether my captive or not, I assure that every companion who travels with me, will stay on their toes and keep their wits about them,” he winked at her, “Just wait until we are a little further a field!”

Noticing that the rest of the large company were bustling around, helping with the camp, bar Raen that is, he decided it was time to find a location where he could sit for the remainder of the night. A movement in the river caught his keen eyesight and he turned to spy Raen wading into the river, caked in thick layers of dust. He snickered at the sight before moving away from the riverbank, not wishing to be dragged in again. Levi’s mood seemed to have changed yet again, however this time for the better as he had a humorous glint in his eyes and he seemed to be in good spirits, for now anyway.

Catching Sila by the wrist he pulled her along beside him and muttered quietly to her, “Well seeing as you do not seem to be convinced I am doing my job to a sufficient standard, I want you to sit down somewhere in perfect line of my view.” He grinned, “Of course, so as to give you the agreed freedom, you may choose where you would prefer to sit.” He bowed mockingly and kissed her hand, one his eyebrows raised, “My Lady,” He finished, before turning and finding a secluded location deep in the shadows.

~*~

As the night grew old and the stars above began to fade, the very first rays of dawn were yet to creep over the horizon. The whole camp was still, most asleep though one or two of them were not. Levi was as wide awake as ever and he watched the whole company, content with the peaceful silence. Glancing over, he caught sight of Raen with Ari and could see that he too was awake, although Levi already expected that, for he would consider Raen a fool he slept in conditions such as these or in any location unless he was in safe hiding in the wilderness.

Just then he caught sight of someone rising and recognised the she-elf as she slipped away from the company. He watched her as she cast a glance around the company to see if they were all asleep before moving away. Levi and as he could see his brother also often gave the semblance that they were asleep, to fool others and for their own benefit. He was curious as to where she had gone but presumed it was just to the river so he thought nothing more of it.

After a while, the she-elf returned and sat down once more to rest, or so he thought. Taking out a dagger, Levi flipped it lazily in the air before catching it again, repeating this several times over in slight boredom. Suddenly he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end and he closed his fingers firmly around his dagger. He felt the presence of something nearby, it was very close. And evil grin spread across his face, the glint in his eyes malicious. Rising to his feet, he kept his dagger in his hand and began to walk across the camp. He stopped briefly and glanced over at the she-elf, wondering if it was concerned with her what he felt. Quickly moving on, he cast a sharp gaze around him and searched for any movement nearby, as he cautiously continued on.

Alassë shifted against her mare, as the first faint rays of dawn filtered over the group. She stretched her body before letting out a large yawn. The mare snickered and gently nudged her.

She opened her eyes slightly,her dark blue eyes watching the sun beams playing over the ground. She gave a small smile, feeling at peace at the moment. A glint of metal caught her eyes, which snapped fully open. She saw Levi fingering his knife as he slowly walked across the camp. As he passed by her, she asked, "What is it? Is something wrong?" Again... she added warily.

It startled her to see two eyes glinting in the light struggling to overcome the darkness.
It was when she saw the man of mysterious ways, known as Levi rise she was reassured. He held what she thought a dagger in his rough hands. She looked down at Evethire rolled over in an Elvish dream and decided to give Levi his chance. Evethire would probably made it worse. She would wait until he needed help to arouse awarness of danger. Levi got nearer. The creature snarled baring yellowing fangs. It was of colossal size and was rather threatning. Altariel rose also and stepped so she could clearly see the man and foe.
It took him a minute to spot the hairy mass.
She went nearer with a bow in hand. She was in hearing distance of the man.
He seemed to be consentrating or just deciding not to communicate with the woman who is of no friend, either way he was silent. She frowned and then looked at him and managed to whisper "Do you think its a wolf?"
She thought she knew the answer but it was the only thing she could think of to say at that moment.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sleep stayed on Evethire as the first light came. He didn't notice anything happening, Altariel seating herself beside him or the birds with beady eyes gracfully flying above on the wing. He dreams were unperturbed by the approaching creature. He thought of his home land, unworried.
Until the hairs on the back of his neck tingled with recognision of danger. He turned to see the morning glow. He thought he was not fearful of that.
He couldn't see the four legged figure drooling or anyone there waiting.
Everyone else remained asleep. He fingered his bow and rose. He started to march the other way, away from Levi's dagger face and Altariels bow.
He search around the horses, seeing nothing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Altariel stood motionless near Levi. She wanted to be brave and able to aid but she did feel nervous all the same. Levi oviously didn't feel any emotion,well he looked content and brave all over. She did expect him to have some experience in the wilds as he had the windswept look about his face, brave all the same. Those black eyes once more made Altariel gaze for one second and then look away. Maybe it was she had never seen anyone with pure ebony eyes before.

The creature raised its boney head to waist height and gazed also. Its eyes had turned hollow and evil looking. The rest of its thinning muscles were not very visible as to the humid air.
It had previously being rooting around the ground.

((Well, I can't think what Sila would be doing other than sleeping...but I REALLY want to post. So, yes, on to Sila's dream!))

Sila had chosen a place near the fire, in a clump of dry spongy moss (to make the ground more comfortable). After the excitement of the stampede, she had been wide awake, but the adrenaline was wearing away, and she was soon asleep, slipped into a dream-world.

Sila was younger, with a slightly rounder face and short, ragged hair. She watched in horror with Vana and Ari as Raen turned into an un-human monster.

"No!" Ari shook her head violently. "It can't be you!"

"But it ISSS me..." the monster-Raen hissed. His eyes were red, and his hands groping for something to kill. "I mussst finish my job." Sila screamed as the monster backhanded Ari and Vana out of sight, then turned to Sila. But he didn't touch her. Instead, he reached past her to where Prince Imrahil stood, oblivious. The monster laughed as he crushed the life out of the Prince and dropped the broken body to the ground. She screamed and ran towards it, but when she rolled the body over, it was not Imrahil's face but Levi's that stared blankly at her...

...Then she was her own age again. It was a different season, on a bloody field of battle before the gates of Minas Tirith. Sila was riding as quickly as she could, her hair streaming out behind her, towards two men at the middle of the battle-field. It was Levi commanding the attacking army, and holding a sword to the opposing commander's throat...Raen's throat. Sila leaped off her horse and threw herself at Levi. His shirt disappeared as she leaped, and her hand touched the bare skin of his shoulder...

...She was running, running as hard as she could trying to escape Raen's house as it caved in. But she wasn't fast enough and Raen and Ari laughed as she was crushed...

...She sat under a willow-tree, holding the body of a woman, who had an expression of ultimate terror frozen on her face...

...She was fighting in Minas Tirith again, but every soldier she killed had her dead brother's face...

...She was burning, burning, and the whole court of Gondor laughed as they watched...

...She was being dragged, stolen into darkness. The darkness was so thick she could barely breathe...

...She watched as Levi plummeted from a cliff to the crushing rocks below...

Sila woke up with a muffled yelp and sat up panting. She was covered in a cold sweat and shivered. She had always hated her nightmares...they had never been silly, childish dreams of monsters under the bed. Her nightmares had always been filled with violent, painful images. The worst and most common nightmares she had dreamt as a child were that the White Tree had burned, and the king could never come back, and that her dearest brother Perlanthir had died brutally, staring up at her from the bottom of the river. The first had never happened, just as her father had said it wouldn't, but the second and worst...she hugged her knees to her chest and tried to forget the empty stare of her brother's face when she had found him. A small sob escaped her lips and she tried to forget the dream. But, like so many of the others, the vivid images etched themselves in her mind, not soon to be forgotten. Sila wrapped herself in her blanket and stared at the horizon as the first light broke. It was then that she noticed that some of their company was out of sight.

And there was a deep growl coming from the thicket across the way.

((Leafy: I won't! :love: ))
