Awelyn and Cat, OTB is still very firmly in the CoE database - I just checked. After all, he's never posted here very often, and he's recently been quite busy on another messageboard, the one whose members he met in real life a couple of months ago. (Tom posts on quite many sites, you see.)

Awelyn, it's a shame that your dentist caught the flu just now! Hopefully he can receive you on Monday.

Brandy, a trip to Disneyworld sounds great! Hope it will turn out as fun as you hope it will be!

Seems that, you in North America are getting real winter weather. Here, it's still warmer than usual - hope we'll get some snow by Christmas.

Well, TGIF! Have a great start for the weekend, everybody!

We have Winter! There's not much snow but we sure have ice everywhere this morning. I'm watching the local news on TV to see if Tommy's school will be closed, but so far it's not on the list. The streets don't look too bad, but I am worried about my steep, ice-covered driveway.

That is distressing news about Old Tom. I'm sure he had his reasons, but we will miss him and his terrific photos and interesting tales. It makes me sad none the less.

I agree that Christopher and Ian could have switched roles very easily. I also think that others could have played Aragorn, Boromir, etc, but I'm quite pleased with the choices that were made.

I am so very relieved to know that MT is duly deputized and authorized to make wardrobe changes to Ara-baby. I will try hard to quit worrying so much about it.

If that crusty old sailor/ranger/biker can make it up to the POG to escort Mith on her trek, I'm sure he'll have room for another fine shieldmaiden, Scotts. (Take two rolls of duct tape and perhaps a cattle-prod, however)

Please bundle up and stay warm if you're out in that frigid weather, Cat. Watch out for ice on the streets and sidewalks. (Cruising for God's unfortunate children can be hazardous, but I'm sure you already knew that)

You be carefull while out caring for those critters, too, Randi.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with your dental problem, Awelyn. At least you won't have to knock your own tooth out with an ice skate the way poor old "Cast Away" Tom Hanks did.

Jess, Cirdaneth, Neenime, Brandy, Rose, HT and others who I've not personally addressed, just know that I'm thinking about you all on this frozen Arkansas morning. Love, bear-hugs and very hot chocolate to you all, Swabby

Well, Swabby that is true my dental problem could be worse. Ice skate -just the thought gives me the shivers :twitch: .We were on the borderline for winter weather. We did not get any. It is colder but no ice or snow. When my children were at home and younger they hated it because they had to go to school while other schools in the area would close. That's not fair they would say and let's move further North. Oh well I have heat further North in St. Louis,Mo. they have no electricity because of ice on the power lines.

Oh Morwin I am so glad I was wrong about OTB. I tried to send him a pm yesterday and it was sent back saying he was not in the database that is why I thought the worse.

Brandy good for you. Christmas at Disneyland you will have so much fun. It will be beautiful. You sound so excited. You go and have a great time and send us photos or at least one.

Cat that is awful that someone would steal someones medicine.
We need the Ents to send in the evil trees to get those thieves.
Have a good day.

I am going on a dragon hunt, going to find a big one I am not scared. Lets see I went through the forest oh hi Legolas and down by the stream waves to Gollum fishing and over the Misty Mountains now where can that tricksy dragon be hiding. I have looked here and yonder. Maybe if I sing oh on second thought maybe no singing I don't want her to attack. Now where is Rosehaven?

To everyone else here at FOF have a great weekend. I am going to clean and decorate my house this weekend and my 24 year old is in a Christmas parade on Saturday on a float for her bank. she is going to be very cold. I will be watching the parade all bundled up and warm. Keep warm ya'll

Scots:
"sair" (rhymes with chair) = sore.
"fecht" (rhymes with detect, but with a soft ch as in loch) = fight

Usually said in tones of deep resignation meaning that life is a struggle.

Randy: Disneyworld - that sounds like a lot of fun. Hope you have the bestest of times. Glad to hear that the farm is sold and that you are going to have some fun with that little extra cash.

Now why has'nt Disney done some kind of LOTR ride/theme. The Hobbit Experience could be a restaurant in a hobbit house with a party tree for the kids outside. Lothlorien Fantasy - just imagine how romantic it would be to dine in a flet with all the beautiful trees lit with lights. Of course we would all be served by waiters in elvish dress - preferably looking like THE ELF, or Haldir or Elrond or well, anyone elvish. Now why do I always thinking food?: Probably because the diet is just not going the way I want it too and Christmas is coming!

Thinking of food. The dinner went really well. I love to cook and it was absolutely yummy! Today is Christmas tree day. Definitely have to get a new one after Christmas this one is looking decidedly ratty. Trying to get into the Spirit of Christmas this year is kind of hard. Mainly because I keep thinking of my son in Aus. and the kind of Christmas he will be having - very depressing. But, I have to keep my spirits up.

My daughter just sent me a pic of her dog, Lola. This is one dog that just loves the water and they decided they would have to teach her how to surf. So now she paddles out, gets on the board and surfs her way in!! I have no idea how to post pics (completely computer challenged), but if someone can clue me in I will post one. :rolling: :feedback: :killcomp:

For those who wanted to know what "The Fountain" was. Its the latest Hugh Jackman movie. Something about the search for the Fountain of Youth - yeah could I do with that right about now.!! lol

Everyone have a lovely weekend and Awelyn am really hoping that you get your dental problem sorted out on Monday and that you will not have so much pain. Go fight those dragons, girl!!

Vicarcat: Keep smiling, you do wonderful work and probably most of those kids really appreciate you. There are always a few desperate people in this world who will take advantage of people who reach out and are willing to bring some joy and help into their lives, unfortunately.

Awelyn - you’re right. He has seen me at my best and my worst in the 27 years we’ve known each other and still loves me. He’s a darling. Very much a Faramir.

Randi – glad that Bain and her wee one got some help with the cold weather.

Mith I can see that you’re spoiling for a fight. That Elven princess had better look out!

The Fountain is a film with hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. Something about searching throughout time for a cure for his dying wife. Sort of Sci-Fi Romance, I think.

Brandy – congrats on the sale. How nice to have both $$ security and some fun also. I hope you have a lovely time.

Cat – good luck with exams. Our students finished class this week and they start exams in Monday. The stress level is high!

Swabby NAsty weather. Keep your powder dry and your mitts handy!

Too bad about Old tom. Was it something we said? Or didn't say? Or has he just found a place he likes better? I'll miss him even so.

I am recovering from my cold - now in the sneezy, nose-dripping stage (as if smelly wasn't bad enough). Fortunately, my energy level is good and most of my neurons have lined up so that I can think reasonably well. Good enough.

Did something really different yesterday. I dyed my hair "Egyptian Plum". Hard to see except in very bright light, as I already have natural auburn highlights. Getting wild as I approach my 50th!:disco: Not for almost 2 months. but I am practising.........

Awelyn, hope your dentist is better and can take care of you on Monday. Any luck finding the dragon lair?

Would sure be fun to have companionship on the trip home. But I must ask, why the duct tape, Swabby? I know it has many uses, just curious what you were thinking.

The Fountain sounds like a good movie, Neenime. Would love to hear your opinions on it.

Jess, it is always difficult being apart from loved ones on the holidays and I sure can understand and empathize with you on that. Meanwhile.....sending holiday cheer your way.

Will gladly send you any snow that comes our way, Morwin. I wouldn't mind a few flurries on Christmas day or even in January, but not wanting to make the drive home in bad weather.

That was an interesting thought about Viggo playing another role in LOTR, HT. But Aragorn did suit him the best.

Will definitely get some photos with Ara-baby when he is officially mine, my own, MT. Meanwhile, it sure is fun thinking of ways to personalize him. See what you started, lol.

Disneyworld sure is a fun place, Brandy. You will enjoy it. How many days will you be there? There is so much to see.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and is healthy and warm. Love and hugs!:love:

Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo! Image

Awelyn and Cat, OTB is still very firmly in the CoE database - I just checked. After all, he's never posted here very often, and he's recently been quite busy on another messageboard, the one whose members he met in real life a couple of months ago. (Tom posts on quite many sites, you see.)
Nay, Old Tom has not sailed off to Vainor just yet. Aye, I do post on at least three other messageboards, two of them on a more-or-less daily basis, so it does spread me out a bit thin. You all post so fast and furious here, it's a bit overwhelming and very difficult to keep up.

I'm in the midst of a very big indoor painting project at home, painting my kitchen/dining/TV rooms. (They all form a sort of great room.) Most of it I'm painting Golden Sun (a deep yellow) while I'm painting a smaller portion of it Dawn Cypress (a dark green). I painted on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of last weekend, and am doing the same this weekend.

The colors are meant to compliment my kitchen makeover, which I think I discussed here on the previous incarnation of this thread, as well as some artwork I recently purchased. Goldberry and I also have dark green his & hers recliners in our TV room.

The artwork consists of a landscape quadptych (each piece is 30" x 30")--

Image

--and a photograph (24" x 18")

Image.

All the images are printed on canvas stretched over wooden frames, so that the prints have a frameless look. After looking at the photographs, I'm sure you can see why I've chosen green and yellow-gold for the colors of my walls.

The setting of the landscape quadptych is nearby Amador County. The trees are predominantly oak. Naturally, the quadptych is named "California Oaks". The artist is
Vicki Asp.

The photograph was taken on or near Mt. Diablo in Contra Costa County, the county where I grew up. There's a magnificent oak in the foreground, and a horse in the near foreground. The photograph is by T&K Images of Clayton, California.

I hope you are all happy and healthy and keeping out of mischief, well, at least as much as possible.

He lives! hey, tom, how nice to hear (read?) from you again!

Wow, that is gorgeoup art work. It makes methink of the plains of Rohan and the woods of the Shire. How absolutely lovely.

Glad that it was good stuff that kept you away. Just don't work too hard, eh?

Great to hear from you, Tom! Sounds like you've gotten a little paint in your system. I'm ready to put some new colors on my walls, but have lack of time, energy and extra funds. Maybe this summer. Love those photographs. Very beautiful and peaceful.

Yes, do not worry about me swabby. I am either authorized or brazen enough not to care that I am unauthorized to do such things. I've grown a little bold and cannot fit back inside my box.

It all started so innocently, mith, the Ara-baby thing. I first called him that after we spent a night of terror huddled together during hurricane Ivan. After the hurricane I thought that perhaps I would have to "ready" him as well as my house and myself..so I put floaties and rain hat on him, as he held a paddle. And now I dress him in bunny ears or devil horns. Be open to what your Ara-baby will lead you to do.:evil:

Saying special prayers for freedom from pain and quick repair of your dental problems, awelyn. You've really had a time of it!!!

Disneyworld!!! What fun brandywine!! When are you going? It's been quite a while since I've been. It's one of my favorite places. Christmas is a wonderful time to go, but there really is no bad time.

Thanks for the translation cirdaneth. Think I may use it a time or two. Like the sound of it and I want to impress my friends.

Supper club was great! Food was marvelous, company was fantastic. Got to show off my Middle earth room. One of the guests is a fan and he was impressed, especially liked the drawings. Told him that a friend of mine is a very fine artist, swabby. He wholeheartedly agreed.
Tomorrow is shopping for nephew's birthday, a wedding gift and Christmas gifts for in-laws and out-laws. Have a craving for pizza, so may have to take care of that while I'm out. Have a fabulous Saturday, all!!

So Old Tom hasn't abandoned us after all. It's good to hear from you again and see your pretty pictures, Old Tom!

I really don't worry about you too much, MT, for I know that you are a growed woman and shieldmaden and fully capable of making the right decisions. You're also a lot of fun to mess with, which stimulates my inner mischievous child. (Which makes up about 93% of me) Now, if I only had a Salma Hayek doll that I could "personalize". She'd have to be three-dimensional, though, with realistic moving parts and natural-looking and feeling skin. Oh, I'm getting dizzy.

Mith, I was just thinking that if your sailor/ranger/biker escort got a little too frisky, (and who could blame him?) he might have to be bound up in duct tape (especially his hands) in order to quell said friskiness. Surely you understand that the leopard cannot change it's spots.

Now where is Rose? She's gone missing again and we are in need of some of that dragon mojo. Are you still feeling poorly, dear dragon lady? If so, please let us know so we can send our healing thoughts your way. If that doesn't work, I shall send you a pumpkin pie.

Have a great weekend! Love and bear hugs, Swabby

Let's send healing vibes anyway, swabby: to the dragon lady and anyone else who needs them.

OTB! What wonderful pictures. Wish I knew how to post a photo.

Off in a minute to see the Montagues and Capulets slug it out with their grandes jettes and rondes de jambe. (no that doesn't mean slices of gammon!) Fifty years ago I could do those. (Sigh!)

Executes stunning entrechat douze ... and lands in orchestra pit. Crash-twoinnnnng! Sorry guys!

It was lovely to read all of your posts. Last night was a night to mark on the calendar. I slept all night! It's the first time in forever. I usually read this thread at about 2:00 a.m. Today I am reading it at 7:20 p.m. and anticipating a good night's sleep again.
About Disneyworld-We are leaving on the 21st of Dec. and coming back on the 31st. My husband's sister is going with us and she is renting a car so we can travel to other places as well.

At the moment I'm watching (sort of) the Harry Potter weekend on USA channel. What's so cool is that they have previews for Aragon and Order of the Pheonix. I can't wait to see them both. Only a couple of weeks til Aragon, Yeah!

My husband bought me a digital camera for Christmas. He actually too k me to Best Buy and had me pick one out. I got a nice one in a low price range. I'm excited to have such a cute "baby" camera to take on our trip.

I went to the dentist today, Awelyn, just for a cleaning. I don't envy you your dental woes at the moment. I hope all comes well at the first of the week.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Minas Tirith MS are youthe one with the Ara-baby standee? I have one just like it in my den. My friend got it for me just to see the expression on my husband's face when she gave it to me. He always tells people, "I go to bed to Harry potter and I get up to Harry Potter, I go to bed to Lord of the Rings and I get up to Lord of the Rings." He's so long suffering! Anyway, not long after I got the Ara-baby standee my kids decided to play some tricks on me. They put him in my den and shut the door. When you opened the door he fell forward on you because of the draft created. I must admit it was nice to have him fall into my arms. Then while my sister-in-law was visiting they all cooked up a scheme and put him in my bed. My husband added a note that said, "You always wanted to wake up next to me!" What a bunch!

Well I hope you are all staying warm and out of traffic incidents that can so easily occur at this time of year. To those in the midwest USA, sorry about the bad weather you are having.

Glad to see you back Old Tom. Swabby you are always entertaining in your posts. I wish Salma Hayack for you for Christmas!

Later all

Old_Tom_Bombadil so glad to have you back. The photo is just fantastic. What an interesting looking tree. I wonder how old that tree is? You do have a big job and it sounds so nice. The colors you are painting remind me of the Shire. So glad to hear from you my friend.

Brandy so glad you slept all night. Maybe it was selling the farm and having the stress gone. I hope I get this dental problem taken care of Monday. What a fun loving family you have, that was so funny about your standee falling out on people.

cirdaneth I hope you had a good time at the Ballet

Swabby here is a big bear hug right back at you.

Randi I bet those grandkids had you hopping. You are very lucky to have them so close to you.

MTMS thank you I will be glad when it is over Monday. Your Sunday sounds very busy. Have a good day.

I went to a Christmas parade tonight. My 24 yr. old daughter was on a float for her work. She was a present with a big red bow in her hair. She did not like that part but she had fun even with the cold temps. I enjoyed it. Every float had to have lights and some had music and our high school sent the marching band. I felt sorry for them. They looked so cold. I had fun. Have a good night .

Aiya Tom! Glad to hear you and Goldberry are busy painting...
Hands on redecorating is always fun even when it is exausting...
And those pieces of art are fantastic!
That photo looks like it was made just to go with those four scenes.

Disneyworld sounds fun I hope you and your family enjoys it Brandy...

Awelyn I hope your surgery is as easy as mine was...
I slept through it, and just had to be careful what I put in my mouth
til I had the ok from my dentist.
Was not very sore at all and I healed more quickly then expected too.

I wish I was half the Saint that folks seem to think I am... Sigh.
Well at least I am there to listen when others need to talk.
That seems to be most of my job now. That and reading posts.

It was 43*F earlier today so I got a one dollar Christmas Tree...
Then this evening Ricky gave me a tub of Turkey Casserole...
Food Stamps come tomorrow so everyone here
will be eating better by noon...
Most of the flock gets Food Stamps.

I think my budget is tight...
then I go look at the info from New Orleans
and I realize that here in Oregon we have most of the
problems covered.
OK so we could use more low cost housing
and more motel vouchers...
but we do have the motel space to put everyone inside
during the really cold weather it is just a matter of
finding the budget for it.
Other places don't have the buildings to put folks in...

Now if I could win big on a scratch and win...
I'd put it into vouchers for heat and rent.
That is, if I didn't win enough to get a big farm house and fix it up...
With a giant garden and cottages on the back forty...

Then perhaps I might even adopt a few of those elusive
Futon and Gumdrop Elves,
I keep hearing about on the comercials lately.

I only hear them on the radio in December and I wonder...
"What do they do for work the rest of the year?"

The Christmas Elves I know work the Faires and Carnivals year round,
so they have employment when not in the workshop proper.

But the Futon and Gumdrop Elves?
They seem to be new to the business.
I keep wondering...
"Where in Arda did the employment department find them?"
And do they resemble any of Thranduil"s Sons?
Or are they out of Har Lindon?
Maybe there from that Wood near the Shire?

OK. I know I have enough local under-employed Elves as is,
without asking for more...
I'm just wanting to be ready if they get stuck here.

Well sorry if I missed your names...
and good thoughts just the same...

Hope Sunday is good...  :disco:

OH before I forget, :angel:Who has the Christmas Card address list?
Please pm me with the :angel:list so I don't forget anyone's cards...
I have Randi's and Swabby's addresses but no one elses... Sniffle.

Salma Hayek standee, swabby?? Don't know if Santa could fit her in his sack. He may just have her ride beside him. (Hope she doesn't blow out! Some little boy may grow up quite quickly that day!)

You see, mith, everyone has their own kind of fun with Ara-baby. Like the idea of waking up with a ranger, brandywine. Not many gals can claim that honor.
My Ara-baby whispers to me, especially late at night when he sometimes winks or moves just a bit. I've seen him do it! He's real, I tell you. Especially after all we've been through together .

I missed the Christmas parade here, awelyn. Bet you had fun watching your daughter and the rest of the bunch in the parade. You gave me an idea to dress myself as a present and mail myself to Mr. Mortensen.:heart: Perhaps I should put a "no return" sticker on the package. What color bow should adorn my head???
Will be thinking of you tomorrow!!

You have a big heart and concern for all people, vicarcat, which seems lacking in many folks out in the world. My heart goes out to the folks in MS who've suffered from the hurricane. They seem to be forgotten and have suffered the same or more than the folks in New Orleans. Our church is still sending work crews to Gautier, MS. to help get families into their houses. These small towns take longer to get back on their feet than larger cities. I am proud of the work that the churches are doing to help. Seems as if those groups were the first to respond and are still there.

Heading off to church. Happy first Sunday in advent. May your spirit be blessed with peace and joy in this busy time of the year.

*fights with the present gales and struggles to trim landing gear, grabs onto a nearby tree and hops down to terra firma*

We are having high winds at the moment and heavy rain.

My cold is clearing nicely, just a bit chesty. *sees Grima sneaking up out of corner of eye, fetches a wing back and knocks him for six*

Good to see you OTB, and the artwork is lovely.

I haven't been able to get on CoE at work. Lots of jobs coming in and specifications to type. Evenings have been busy, and I have also been whacked, so really just coming been coming on to do my staffly duties.

Hope you have a great time at DisneyWorld, brandy. Lucky you.

Christmas Parades sounds so much fun. Don't have anything like that in Manchester. Well not Christmas Parades anyway.

Cirdaneth, you are going to see the Romeo & Juliet ballet. How lovely. Enjoy. Now, girl, you should try something a little more simple, like plies. Lol!!

I know I haven't mentioned everyone's posts. But I have read them and good to see how everyone is doing.

Going to make some bacon butties.

Bear hugs to swabby, and hugs to all the ladies.

Bye for now

Nice to see you pop in, Tom! The landscape in those photos is quite Shire-like, although it's from quite another part of the world than that inspired Tolkien.

Enjoy the ballet, Cirdaneth! I also used to dance in my younger years, although I was never really good at it, but it sure left a love for dance in me.

Brandy, hooray for a well slept night! :disco: Hope the next ones will be equally peaceful!

Yesterday, I made another Christmas shopping trip, and now, I've got almost all presents bought. The couple ones that are still missing I can get in the nearest mall.

 to everybody! Have a nice and peaceful Sunday!

Rose I am glad you are getting better. Okay I have to ask what are bacon butties. A butte in the USA is a steep hill that is usually on flat land out west with the cowboys. But anything with bacon is great

MTMS, Your bow should be red. I think that would look very attractive. My daughter was so cold when she got back from the parade and her little finger on her right hand was white. It gave us both a scare. She had been wearing gloves. I told her mittens would keep her hands warmer but she had to throw candy. I was just remembering my first aid training when it started getting better. It is so surprising that no matter how old your children are you still worry about them. I told her she will always be my baby. Happy first Sunday of advent to you.

Vicarcat it is Sindy but you have to pm her your address and then she will add you to the list I think that is how it goes you probably need to pm her and ask her. Because she has made one list already and will need to add you to that one then you will have all our addresses and we will have yours.

The sun is shining ,the sky is blue but we have some frigid temps today. I bet Neenime and Jess thinks yeah right you think that's cold you should be here. I am going to clean and finish decorating today. Have a great day/afternoon/night.

You are right about delivery problems with a Salma Hayek standee, MT, especially if it conformed to my specifications. As Santa crossed Canada on his way down south, I know Neenime's hubby would definately snag her if he got the chance. Now I'm thinking that I should ask for Jennifer Connelly and Rachel Wiesz dolls in addition to Salma so as to improve my chances of actually receiving one of them. (Notice my taste in women---Salma, age 40, Jennifer, age 37, Rachel, almost 36) I also like Scarlett, but she's waaaay too young.
Also, I agree with Awelyn about the bow, MT. I think that either red or hot pink fits your personality.

So glad to see you Rose! I'm sorry you're having to work so much. Don't those orcs know that you have OTHER responsibilities?

You are always so busy, too, Morwin. I think you deserve a little pampering, like a nice foot massage and a tropical vacation.

I'm glad to have amused you, Brandy. I try to be "colorful" in my posts most of the time. I'm really not at all like I thought I would be at this age. In many ways, I'm still an over-exhuberant teenager, but not nearly as adept at tree-climbing or chasing ice cream trucks as I once was.

Mith, where are you this weekend? Stuck in the kitchen making cookies?

Hang in there, Cat. You're too tough to get worn down at such an early age, and we're all behind you.

Randi, who cooks all that meat you're always skinning out? Do you have a really big smoker?

I know I haven't spoken to all of you, but my feet are cold and I've got to go cook myself some breakfast. Love, bear hugs and pancakes, Swabby

Brandy – lucky you waking up next to a Ranger! My Faramir-like hubby is plenty for me, but a Sheildmaiden likes to dream now and again………….

So glad that you slept. Now if you could just discover how you did that so you could do it again and agin! I’ve been up at 4:30 yesterday and 5AM today! What’s with that? I gues the cold, which seems to have become a sinus thing, is forcing me to go to bed rally early, but I really don’t need that much sleep. Unless it’s caffeine sneaking into my diet somewhere.

Swabby - you’re so right. My hubby would fight you for Salma any day. But he’d let Penelope Cruz go by - too skinny and Bi-g-g-g-g-g teeth. Not his type.

Awelyn – glad your daughter had a good time at the parade. And I’m glad her finger is OK. Good luck at the dentist tomorrow. Will be thinking of you.

We’ve had our first significant snowfall since October. Today is bright, sunny and crispy. Had some adventures already. Our stupid dog got lose and got into a tussle with the neighbour’s dog. No harm done but I was worried about hubby’s heart when he went after her. Had to drag her back, plus he was really angry – not great for the old ticker. Didn’t need to break out the nitro, so I guess he’s OK

Writing Christmas cards today. My FoF friends are first in the list.

Our book has arrived! It looks gorgeous and we are very pleased with how well the photos came out. The paper is good quality glossy, so we've gotten our money's worth. Have to correct a couple of minor things before getting more copies run off. I am glad e did it, as it will be a great little heritage piece for our kids, plus it will have their dad’s crazy sense of humour with all the little one-liners and bad puns that he snuck into the text. Yoy, Bozhe! (Ukrainian for Oh, Lordy)

I know, swabby, I keep telling them I have to go and see my friends on CoE. You can imagine the glazed expression they get. Lol!!

I took ballet class when I was young, but grew too tall. Then when my daughter went to Stage School, I joined the Mothers' Keep Fit and Dance Classes and did tap dancing, but kept falling off the tap. Sorry, an oldie, I know, couldn't resist. But seriously, I did tap and won some medals. Quite proud of that fact.

Weather is still blowing madly, maybe a tail end of one of your hurricanes in the US. Horse racing was abandoned today at a few tracks because of the winds. Horses don't like windy weather at the best of times. I managed to re-secure my perspex roof on my cat space in my back yard (UK yard that is, not a garden. ). Half of it blew off in the middle of the night.

Funnily enough swabby, I bumped into an old man in a red suit when I was flying back to my cave. Asked him in for a cuppa. No bad thing, buttering up old men. Lol!!

Awelyn, a 'butty' (plural ~ butties) is two slices of bread, buttered with a filling of meat. Ergo, a sandwich. It's a northern UK expression. Down south, they are 'sarnies', in Scotland they are 'pieces'. In Liverpool there is a place called Knottyash, where they have jam butty mines. Rofl!! You have to know of Ken Dodd to understand that one, and his Diddymen, who mined the jam butties.

My daughter was one of Ken Dodd's Diddymen, on stage.
Ken Dodd

Only if you are interested of course.

I was shocked then as I read the above Wikipedia article. It says that Ken never paid the Diddymen. Well, I know he did, not a lot, true, but they were paid.

I'm going to check my chicken broth ~ 'jewish penicillin' as my mother used to say. She was Jewish herself through her mother.

Hugs to all.

Rose your weather sounds dreadful Do stay dry - nothing worse than moldy dragon's wings!

Mmmm- chicken soup. That's what I'll have for lunch. The sauna (and a decongestant) helped to clear my sinuses a it, but Jewish penicillin wold do the trick!

Have to get better - off to the movies with my Ring Moot sisters!

Hi everyone,

Hope your colds are all better and Awelyn has gotten through her dental trials. Scots, good for you for getting done with the paper! Tom, I love the paintings. I wants some, preciousssssss. Winter has arrived! We missed the snow but it's as cold as-----Grima's nose out there! I was out turning our backyard spruce into a Christmas tree and about froze. I could have done it last week when it was 70!!!

Vicarcat, PM me your name and address and I will add it to the Christmas card list and send you a copy. (I haven't got my done yet though I need to so the ones going overseas will make it.)

Back to the orc mines for me. The orklings need their midterm grades.

I was a former ballerina as well, morwin. I remember one costume I wore was a "grass skirt" with "coconutty-looking" top (I was very young!). There was a bleached out chicken leg bone wrapped up in some of the many curls atop my little head. What a vision I was!!

A red bow it will be, awelyn. I think I am a "red" type person.

I see that you are indeed a wise man, swabby. Mature beauty is not just on the outside, although that doesn't hurt.

Not sure what has ruined by natural inclination to sleep past 6:00 am, neenime. I am a night owl and prefer the evening hours, although for some un-Godly reason I arise early each day. Woe is me!!

It's pretty cold down here in the deep south, sindy. Supposed to dip down in the 20's on Tuesday night. Almost too cold for this LA gal. May need a ranger to keep my home fires burning.

Quite a bit of catching up to do here on posts. Saturday was hubby's day off so figured I'd post today after church. Got home and put the roast in and my mom called to let me know my sister Bev's mother-in-law passed away last night. So was on the phone with my sisters a good part of the afternoon.

Did finish Christmas cards but had to buy holiday address labels and print them out. Have some back at home but doesn't help here! Also finished our Christmas newsletter. Should get everything in the mail tomorrow.

So wonderful you slept through the night, Brandy! Sure makes a huge difference in how you feel, doesn't it?

Swabby, I have been trying to duct tape hubby for many years and he always declines. So bring a roll at your own risk, lol!

What a great idea - yourself as a present, MT. The V man is sure to notice the big red bow and feel the love coming from inside.

Love the butty word, Rose. Somehow, think I'l remember that one.

Hope your surgery goes well tomorrow, Awelyn. Will be thinking of you and saying a prayer. The holiday parade brings back memories of childhood days. Haven't been to one in ages but sounds so fun.

Well probably forgot a few mentions here as I read though the posts rather quickly. Time to do my evening floorwork exercises. They help with the everyday aches and pains but unfortunately don't wear off all those cookies.

Love and hugs to you all!:love:

Quick pre-bedtime post. Just walked into the house after seeing The Fountain. Wow!!!!

Visually stunning, and I don't just mean Hugh Jackman. Warning - leave your logical mind at home. You definitely need to see this one with your right brain and your soul.

A passing is sad and my sympathies to your sister, Mith.

Butty is a good word isn't it.

I used to suffer dreadfully as a child with chilblains. You don't seem to hear of those so much these days, not generally anyway. Do homeless people suffer from them with the extremes of weather they must live in.

I remember my grandmother's cure for chilblains was your own uri.... errrm, should I go there. Lol. Vinegar was supposed to be good too.

Good luck with your surgery Awelyn.

Don't think I have heard of that film, Neenime. Have to check it out. Hugh Jackman does seem to be flavour of the month, doesn't he.

Sindy: Do you think you could PM me an updated Card List, please, if you have added Cat's name and address, I don't think I have that. Thanks.

MT: I heard a quote once about age: 'As we mature, beauty tuns inwards'

My chicken broth was delicious and I made enough to give my daughter three portions. I have also started taking my vitamin B12 tablets again, and can feel the difference. I have pernicious anaemia and used to have injections, then was put on to tablets, and as happens drifted off them. Only for about six months now, though. Never was good at taking tablets.

Hope everyone is not too cold. *sends hot dragon breath to keep friends warm*

The high winds have died down now, thankfully. I have put the little Christmas tree up at work. One of the partners is a proper Ebeneezer Scrooge and I love to annoy him. Lol!! Mind you I love sparkle and it's a fibre optic tree, so lots of sparkle.

Huggles

Swabby, I sure could do with a tropical vacation! Unfortunately, my life continues to be busy for the next three weeks - then, I'll have a breather, with the days between Christmas and New Year off work.

My condolences to your sister and her family, Mith.

Now, waiting news of Awelyn...

In the weekend, we had quite a nice weather, but now, it's raining again.

Hope everybody gets a good start for the week!

Small correction to Christmas card list. My last name is spelled T-K-A-C-Z-Y-K . The current list has -H- as the second letter. I just caught that today. No worries, if you have already sent a card. The name has so many consonants smashed together that I don't think the postal service can make much sense of them anyway. We often get mail for a neighbour with several similar letters in their name. I guess close is considered good enough in horseshoes, grenades and the post office!

Happy Monday to all. for Awleyn.

I could easily overlook Penelope's big teeth , Neenime. If your hubby see's the actress Ana de la Reguera (who plays sister Encarnation in "Nacho Libre") he may just abandone Salma, and then she'll be ALL MINE! (de la Reguera has such innocent beauty as to melt any man, I would think.)
And whatayaknow?! We also went to see "The Fountain" yesterday. My 15 yo wasn't into it at all and Ms. Swabby, who must always figure out the story-line and the ending within the first ten minutes of the movie, (but was befuddled and confused throughout) plus the apparent lack of heat in the theater made for some unpleasant viewing on my part. I agree that it was a beautifully filmed movie with an intriguing story. (three of them) I will want to watch it again on dvd under better conditions and with the sub-titles turned on. Somehow, it reminds me of "2001, A Space Oddity" in certain ways.

Rose, I'm wondering about your chicken broth. If I were to put a chicken in a pot and boil it, I would call the resulting flavorful liquid part "chicken broth". Is that what you make, or do you add noodles, carrots, onion, etc? If so, that is what we Americans would call "chicken soup". We use the word "broth" to describe the flavorful liquid that is left after boiling any kind of meat or vegetable.
Oh, and thanks for those warming flames. We're in the ice box and it felt good.
On a different subject, I also suffered from chilibeans when I was a kid. They gave me gas something awful.

Mith, I suggest you put some duct tape (with the sticky side out) on the tv remote or on the wall in the bathroom where hubby leans when he relieves himself, (all men put one hand on a certain spot on the wall) thereby initiating tape contact. When he starts flinging his hand about and yelling "Who put this #*! tape on here?" you run up with a whole roll at the ready and commence taping him up like a mummy. Once he is well-wrapped, you will find yourself in an excellent position to re-negotiate past agreements/arguments and reach outcomes much more to your liking. You may also discover that he is now easily stowable in the broom closet or back porch and no longer takes up the entire couch or makes messes for you to clean up. Duct tape, it might just be a woman's best friend.

Well now I can't remember who else to reply to. (I may have suffered brain damage when the tape covered all my air holes once) Happy Monday! Love, bear hugs and stamps, Swabby

Oh dear! Can't keep up! Want to congratulate ... and sympathise ... and well-wish. Want to tell you about the ballet, but decorator started on bathroom today, and then the plumber, Mr Tricklebank, came to negotiate fitting a new electric shower. And suddenly it's bedtime again.

I forgot to log out last night. I keep doing that. Senior moments I guess. Some of my moments are very senior ... of such antiquity, in fact, that they should be listed by English Heritage. lol. Nighty-night.
